Thread: city chat?

has anyone thought of a city chat? i know my city email is broken and i have 3 diffrent guilds living in my city so what am i to do.... i know guild chat works great so why not a city chat i want to be able to talk to all my citizens!! even the ones not in my guild. i wish someone would suggest city chat to the devs what do u think a good idea yes no?

Yes!
I have a character on Kauri that lives in "Spartan Command"
We have no guilds! So we don't communicate very well LOL

Yes it has been suggested and I can't recall whether the response was after JTL or some tech issue. Hopefully Pappi will recall.
In the interim you can set up a city chat channel by making a script as follows:
invCITYNAME: /echo Accurate as of 10th September 2004.; /pause 2; /chatRoom create SWG.Eclipse.Chat.CITYNAME yes no "CITYNAME (short description) www.yoursite.com"; /pause 5; /chatRoom join chat.CITYNAME; /pause 0.2; /chatRoom invite chat.CITYNAME; /pause 0.2; /chatRoom invite citizenname chat.CITYNAME;/pause 0.2; /chatRoom invite citizenname chat.CITYNAME;
Keep adding: /pause 0.2; /chatRoom invite citizenname chat.CITYNAME; for each named citizen or friend of your city who requires an invite.
I maintain this with a citizen list in Excel and do a mail merge in MS Word to generate the new listing after every citizen change. It is then uploaded to the city site as an alias file for all who wish to download.

ill have a city chat, i just creates a new chat channel named with my city name under the planet, leaved it public for all, and every new citizen gets an email with the how to connect there... its working really great nearly all us it very good and we have even some ppl in the chat that are not from the city
