I have a problem. I really really want to become a politician. I know I need to get 500 ap to start. Do I need any more AP after that ( pleae say no)? Where/how do I place a city? How do I get people in it?What is the best way for all of this? When I do become a politician, how do I get politician points? Just from votes? Can I just join someother PC and then run to vote right away?
All these questions and ANYTHING else. I'm kinda stuck here. My only profession so far is entertainer 0-1-2-3 Its easy to get AP as one.

hard to say this, but there are some things u didnt mentioned about that job, or maybe dont play long enaugh to be able to do so.
Beside the app Points, u will need a lot of money to build up a city, the first weeks u need to pay hundreds of k maintainance to keep it running, u will need an architect or much money to buy or craft city buildings, houses, furniture and so on...
For me personally, i had in my mind for over half a year of becoming Mayor, but waited and kept it in my mind for the right day where i was ready for it. Its all about what u want, if u just want to be Politician and run a ghost town it will become easy, find a good centralized location and begin building it up, but if u really want a good running active city, there is much more behind, ideas, planning, good knowing of houses and so, good credits on bank, and some really great ideas to bind people to the city.
If any of these isnt met, u will fail with it, and just loos much money with this... My personal recommend for you would be, play the game as u like, try things out and live your life, and when u know the game begin thinking about it again. It may sound hard, but in all my time in this game i saw cities over cities falling, cities with good ideas, big old cities and if u maybe decide to quit the game in some weeks or 2 months or whatsoever, it wont only be you that will feel the side effects of it...
Maybe begin building up a PA its a very good beginning of becoming mayor and u wil get a feeling of beingleader of much people.

I was planning on becoming a mayor in some PC Before I did anything. How do I get my politician skills up though? And when I run for mayor should I campaign or something?
How exactly does a militia work and could they ummm.... "usurp" the throne from the present mayor? Like a military coup and install someone else lol?

Hi!
Becoming a mayor is a lot of fun, but will be very difficult for you - I have been a mayor from day one and love it and can answer any questions you have.
Firstly, you need to have 500 AP to become a Novice Politician, and another 620 AP to master it... Don't worry though it will take you a long time to hit master as you can only get politician XP from citizens who vote from you in elections and you only get 100 XP per vote.
Secondly, to place a city you need to buy a deed for a City Hall from a Master Architect which will cost you between 250k and 750k depending on your server. You will then need to find some open space at least 1000m from another city to place yours and you will need to get at least 10 citizens to live there within 24 hours or the city hall will disappear. Most planets have reached their City caps too (they can only have a certain number) and so you might not be able to start a new city on them. Once again, this depends on your server.
Thirdly, getting people to live in your city will be very hard unless you have some attractions. My city, Darkfire, is right in the middle of Tatooine (which is a popular planet) and also has things like the Squill Caves nearby which ensures that lots of people are always coming through.
Fourthly, you need lots of money and support - if you do not have the support of a Master Architect and at least 20 million credits, I would bet that your city will fail. Darkfire costs 600,000 credits per week just to maintain, excluding the costs of buying all of the buildings and decoration! My guild and I spent over 50 million building the city.
Fifth - you MUST have your Cantina staffed and have a large number of vendors to bring people in - without these your city will be a ghost town.
Next, you need a lot of friends to make a city work - building a city and expecting people to want to live there is a recipe for disaster - the best cities always have one or two strong guilds driving them - I do not know of any successful cities that have come about as a result of a handful of players.
About 20 people have left my city at various stages to start their own, and nearly all of them have come back or quit the game because it is pretty hard.
All of that aside, it is a great challenge and a lot of fun - I would encourage you to try it if you have good leadership skills, know how to handle conflict and like to achieve things that other people have not done!
If you are on Naritus, come and have a look around Darkfire - I'll be happy to give you a tour!
Yours,

That sounds like an awesome city. Unfortunately I'm on Bria. Any idea What the state of political ability is on that server? Also, Can I just be a citizen in a PC and just run for mayor there? Do I need to have money to keep it up or what? Is there money in the city treasury?

to become a citizen of another existing city, and then run for elections is very hard... all the existing citizens automatically vote for the existing mayor. You need to convince 51% of the current citizens to go and change their vote to you. That is more difficult than it may sound.
I would also advice you to start with a PA Hall... and start up a guild. If that guild becomes a decent size, you can always try to start a city with the guild. Then you got your citizens, and the guild makes it easier to get new citizens as well.
Anyway, it's hard work but GL with it.

Buy a guild hall, get 9 friends and then use the terminal in the guild hall to start a guild
Check the Player City Guides and the Player Association Guides in the help section.

forget that 9 ppl thing, for a guild u only need 5 ppl at all, so 4 others than u, and others than in a city, u have 7 days time and not only 24 hours to get those in, and also the guildhall is not destroyed when u dont make that, only the guild is disbanded and the choosen guild name is locked for some time

I know I could go to the PA board but this is easier. What exactly is a guild where/how do I buy it? What is it's exact purpose(s); how do I get people to join; And what kinds of guilds are there? IS there money that I can get out of this? etc.
