You don't need to fill your city with non-residents. Mathematically it's a bad idea anyway. To overcome a 9 vote deficit among the current citizens, you'd need to add 19 new people to the city.

I just won the election to become mayor of Tyronet on Wanderhome, after losing four elections. Here's what it took...

First, I had to get an early start. I registered as soon as I could and of course voted for myself. I immediately sent out an e-mail reminding everyone that the city is slowly decling (Our mayor decided to retire as soon as we hit Metropolis) and that we might have trouble keeping our shuttleport once the character purges happened.

I sent out another e-mail after the weekend pointing out that I was getting close (around 54-24) but still needed more votes. Encourage people to encourage their friends to vote. Doing all this before had got me as close as 9 votes the week before but was not enough, so I kicked it up a notch.

Three days before the election ended, I started sending tells to everyone who was logged asking if they voted. If they hadn't, I asked them to vote TONIGHT.

The next day, I did the same thing (Only one person actually voted the night before) and was more forceful about it. I didn't lay down an ultimatum or anything, but I made it clear that there were enough active citizens to give me a victory that night if they'd get off their butts and do it. They were not going to get away with letting me blame the inactive citizens this week!

I did get one fellow to declare residence with two of his characters, but in the end it wasn't necessary, as I had a four vote margin of victory based on hustling and harassing people the last three days before the election ended.

Anyway, good luck to you. Hope you don't have to wait five weeks to help your city out..

Ok first of all this is a friendly take over. Our current mayoer is looking to retire and move on from the game. We have been holding elections and coming up just a little short at the polls. I kno wthat the this weeks election will not be over until wednesday night, but we woul dlike this week to push us over the top. Last week I was 9 votes short of what we needed. As it stands now I need 11 this week but some people have yet to log in to play and vote. We have manage to add a few new people to the city to help with our mayor race adn to hopefully stay with us but at a level 5 city with 100 citizens it gets hard. What i would like ot know is this. Are there any mayors out there on other servers(I'm on chilastra) that would for a 2 week period move into our city all expenses paid to help with the vote. I do not want a ghost town so im not asking for you to stay there forever and keep logging in to kep your houses there. Just long enogh to vote and wait until the election is over before removing your house. Please PM me if you could be of help
