Politician Archive
Thread: Current list of top politician issues:
OK, let's get to work here.
I think we all know or have a good idea of where the politician is right now, the kinds of issues the profession has and what the largest areas of dissatisfaction are. Many of these are long-term items, the kinds of things that require new art assets, redesign of skills and disciplines, addition of new systems or mechanics. Other things are more immediate, fixingthings that havebeen implemented but don't work, balancing things, bug fixes. So, rather than a "top-five" issues, I'm going to ask you to split your issues into long and short term issues, and to give me just a top-three of each. Keep it to top three of each so that we can focus our own discussion and the attention of the developers on the things that we as players want, and always make your number one on each list the one thing you would have them do if they never did anything else.
If you see that someone else has listed your top-three, or that your opinion has already been given, don't hold back, thinking that once it has been said that is good enough. The developers react to the weight of consensus of large groups of players. 250 politician players all saying the exact same thing rings in the ears of the developers.
Please stay on topic in this thread. This is not the place to debate someone else's list, priorities or concepts. I'd love to see separate threads such as those that have already been started for your top-ten lists, your debates over individual issues, and just to generally open up discussion in creative ways.
Also remember, even our short-term issues may be long-term issues for the developers. Game development is SLOW, and we can work quickly. Often we build a sense of urgency and an expectation that the developers will react to that sense of urgency in kind. I just want expectations set that what we work on today does not see developer action tommorrow. And you all know that anyway, so... ...let's get working.
1. Player City Garages.
2. Reimplementing something in the Master Politician box.
3. Giving us more to do than be gimped city decorators and skill trainer hotswappers.
Long term:
1. Giving the Politician more to do with the skill points invested, or change the number of skill points required for the profession.
2. Increase the number of gardens, fountains, statues, and other fluff that can be added to cities.
3. Make me want to be a Politician, rather than forcing someone to have to be a Politician just because the city needs one.
2. Giving the Master box as well as the Martial line more skills/abilities to replace the militia related ones which are no longer of consequence.
3. Restructuring the maintenance pricing plan for objects such as Streetlamps and other 'decorative' items so that they aren't overly expensive.
1. Fix bugs - double elections, shuttle tax, redeeding stuff
Long Term:
1. Add depth to the politician profession - better game "content" if you will.
1. Mission Terminals should give a kick back to the town
2. Election Date shifting.
3. /city chat
4. Income Tax rate cap should be higher than 2,000
5. Mayors should have a /cityevict command. Gives the person 72 hours to get their structure out of your town.
Bugg fixes aside..........
Short term:
1- Mayor ability to remove a militia member without the requirement to their presence at the city term.
2- Sypnet ops - Either place them with the BH terms, or allow them to be placed from the Trainer list (faction terms also?).
3- Mayor (or perhaps let everyone have) ability to see who owns a structure placed in his/her city.
Long term:
1- Allow current mayor the ability to withdraw from office if there is currently someone running against him/her.
2- Militia - Remove /grantzoningrights allowing the mayor to choose who gets these rights.
3- Master Politician skill box - This is an empty profession if there are not benefits to being, and staying, master.
Other items of interest:
Either improve the specializations across the board (enhancing or changing them as applicable)or lower their weekly cost.
Remove streetlamps from counting against total number of "structures" allowed.
Allow those with /grantzoningrights permission to grant themselves zoning rights.
Player garages.
Pavement/terrain tool.
Militia need to have a way to defend their city.
>Short Term Issues:
1. Put back the "ungriefable" /commands in public structures
As a Mayor I don't have the time to decorate and redecorate every building ... not taking into conisderation that I'm just not good at it ... I want to be able to "/setperm admin" ... I'd like to see how many items are in the building, I'd like to be able to use the extremly helpfull "Find lost Items" function so I can redeed a public structure. Or is this already a long term thing?
2. Put in BE and SpyNet
As far as I know I still can't place BE-Trainers (not that we need one in our city
) and Bounty Hunter Terminals are still useless without a SpyNet Operative, at least so I was told by our Bounty Hunters (we still have a Terminal for the looks
). At least the code for the BE should be there as it should be a trainer like all the others ... don't know about the difficulty of a SpyNet Op
3. Raise the Decoration Limit
With the size a Metropolis can take 50 decoration items is just way way way to little ... it's just enough to decorate our main plaza and one or two main streets (about 900 meters long) with some statues, fountains and a bunch of streetlamps (of which you need a lot to iluminate the city because they only spawn very late). And no dev can tell me "Oh the Server Limits, The database *faint*" ... if they are capable of hammering the server with Life-Day Orbs and Holocrons for free, then a few street lamps shouldn't be to tough for them to manage.
Long Term Issues:
1. Balance Specialisations
At least make them work or noticeable. We have Research Center ... and there is considerable amount of discussion if it is even working or not. Some report it works, others say they have worse results and more failures. Other Specs like Entertainment Bonus seam totally useless ... Why should a city be interessted in the customers leaving again as soon as they can? They should like to stay in the city/cantina longer becuase it's fun there. Stronghold is useless two, of corse.
2. Give us Militia back
There just isn't any player driven action without functions like the militia. 2 Skillboxes are totally useless now (with politician already being a lot of skillpoints for little real impact).
3. Give us tools that actually help us
I'd love the once promissed "move stucture" feature, to be able to see who's the owner of a structure, a visual breack-up and record of the tax income would be very nice, a friendlist that doesn't delete all comments every few days
a black board for citizens to make notes in the city hall, some form of callendar ... ups ... that's way more than 3 points ![]()
I left out Garages and Pavement because I hope they really are in the coming as said by TH and indicated by Plinka
Short Term:
- Bugs - specifically the occasionally missing XP issue (Note: this also needs to be looked at by Customer Service! The RIDICULOUSLY inconsistent responses by CSR's on this issue is terrible. From our point of view there are 3 possibilities;A. some CSR's lie to us, B. less than half of them are capable of performing job functions and looking up acceptable responses to known issues, or C. CSR management is incapable of performing their job and providing the CSR's with information in a timely, consistent format.) Redeeding gardens, multiple updates, etc.
- Vehicle Garages
- TEF keeping a hospital owner from using his own structure. (and other Player City TEF silliness)
Long Term:
- Reason to get master and keep the profession
- Faction Roles for Player Cities in the GCW
- ?? Pick some from other posts
They've thought it out more than I have.
Good Luck!
1) Skill Point Worth (more worth or less pts) 5pts for a box that you may use 1-3 times in a city history is excessive.
2) In depth Details of Citizens and Structures in the city limits (who is the owner, how much maintenance remains, when did they last logon??). 5 of my citizens have lost their houses (thier fault on maintenance, but I'd have liked to warn them, also have amystery house from before I added zoning rights).
3) Paving overor clearing outof Obstacles: rocks, dead trees, and Puddles! have ruineda few'master plans'. Old dead tree in front of my city hall steps... grrr...
1) Garages
2) Adjustment of Decoration Costs (fountains, statues, streetlights).
1. A way to Grant others the ability to grant zoning rights. Like a Zoning official flag. It gets really old not being able to be away from my city for more than an hour without having to run back. Or the ability to grantzoning rights with just a name operator.
2. I would like an email when a citizen makes a deposit to the treasury!!
3.The ability to zone city for residential / non residential.. to keep harvesters and factories contained in industrial areas. This would also include no build zones inside the city to make for easier planning.
4. Garages
5. Merchant buildings... A mall for instance.. everyone complains on the boards about pa hall malls. Something with an interior with the flavor of a bazzar.
Long Term
1. More abilities for the profession. I want to do more for my citizens.
2. More content for the profession. I dont want to just be a place holder.. at this point i feel like i am in a skill point sink.
3. Better in game city info controls for budgeting. break out all costs in a worksheet tied into the city to allow us to play with tax rates and see the impact. Like the SWGCitybudget excel file by Keh'lcoh.
You asked for only three, here they are:
- We need to include others in the city info-structure(city officials)
- Create a mission Terminal, and mission for city officials(gives us something to do)
- Give us city garages, please
Please ignore my previous post.... forgot about city chat....
