I just registered to run for mayor (like always) and the first voter that came by noticed that I already had 4 votes ... but only he and me had voted for me until then (maybe only 1 or 2 minutes after registering) - after 2 more votes for me I am now up to6 votes- do we now have postal vote in the game?

There was an oponent that had registered about a week before me (yes, I was rather late this time ) and he already had 2 votes - could these votes have been added to mine? Has anybody else ever encountered something like this?

We had that in our city this week as well. Right after registering to run, the mayor had 6 votes already.

I have noticed that any new citizens that are added after the last election automatically have votes casts for the incumbent mayor. I dont know why, but i tested it again today. I moved in 5 citizens, then registered to vote and automatically had 5 votes for me.

I can't confirm this in my case. Checking my Emails (I never delet them) I saw that no new citizens where added since the last update (no vote then) ... and over all only 1 person was added in the week before (right after the last 3-week-vote-period). There where 4 citizens added and 3 lost in that week.

I have been wondering about this too. A couple weeks ago, right after a new election cycle started, I was registered, had my self-vote tallied and 3 other citizens had dropped by to city hall and voted too. Total of 4 votes. Later that evening, a citizen logged in who hadn't played in a few months. I instantly got the email about "a new citizen has joined the city." And when I checked the voting terminal, I had 5 votes.

While talking to him, I found out he had logged last inside his house. His declared residence. Now he had been gone a long time. Prior to the changes to voting. During that time we had lost rank due to ghost houses finally burning down and a few people moving away. When we lost rank, all houses/citizens outside the new perimeter also got removed from the roster. He was one of them. We had regained rank and his house was reabsorbed into the city limits but he was not re-added to the city roster as he had not logged in since then to redeclare.

We were talking in city hall. I had been in there when he logged in and I got the mail. I checked the city terminals to see if he was back on the citizen report and then I checked the voting terminal again and I had gone from the earlier 4 votes to 5. When he arrived in city hall, I explained the new voting system (among many other things). He went to vote. I checked the tally again. Still 5. ???

It seems simply by logging in while inside his previously declared residence, automatically redeclared it, added him back to the roster...

and automatically registered his vote for the incumbent mayor?

I am wondering if just entering your declared residence auto-votes for the incumbent?

Good thought ... maybe it has something to do with losing and regaining rank and citizens ... our city also lost rank 5 for 2 weeks and regained it. Although I have no real oversight as to who was effected at that time.
