First a question, do the developers for each class read these suggestions or this forum or is it just for players?

When a person becomes a Novice Politican the system should notify them via E-mail about city limits, planet limits, city sizes etc. Imagine my disappointment after 3 months of recruiting players, building homes, giving out deeds, spending a ton of credits to grow my town only to receive this E-mail on our city update.

Your city Goma has qualified to increase to rank 4.

Unfortunately, we must deny your rank and land expansion request as there are too many large cities already on the planet.

- Planetary Civic Authority

I now have to go back to all the citizens of my town and tell them gee sorry we can't have a shuttle because our planet is caped at 4 shuttle cities. Not only will I lose a bunch of them but I feel I have waisted all of my 3 months playing this stupid game only to receive this message. Waisted 3 months, 10 million credits, god knows how many hours of game play and 50 dolors in monthly subscription fees to make this character.

SUGGESTIONS FOR GAME IMPROVEMENT

1. Planet city limits should be raised to allow more cities, even in the starwars movies there were entire planets that were nothing but cities.

2. SEND A EMAIL TO ALL NOVICE POLITICAINS telling them about city and planet limits so they DONT get crushed like I was when they find out the hard way.

3. Allow the server to SKIP a level if that level is full.

Example: Lets say I have 85 folks in my town, I qualify for level 5 but the stupid thing wont advance me to level 5 because Level 4 is full and I can not get level 4.

4. Allow Politicians to place Cantinas and Medical Centers or at the VERY LEAST allow a Musician or Dancer that puts one in a player city FREE lots to do so. I tihnkI itis unfair to recruit a Dancer to our city to help us and then ask them to give up 5 lots to drop a cantina in our city, same goes for doctors.

5.Grant LEVEL3 and above cities the ability to place a Salon

6. Grant Level 3 cities the ability to place CraftingStations around the town outside not just in buidlings.

Please let me know if the game feed back folks read these forums and what are the chances of any of these ideas being accepted.

Thanks

The devs do read all boards *ocasionaly* ... but even when they aren't reading you aren't talking into thin air ... for one you are talking to fellow players that can give you priceless feadback and different views on things ... and secondly every profession has a honoury correspondant responsible for gathering the information (good and bad) from the player base (people posting on these boards) to the devs (in special correspondant boards) ... they are our voice ... trying as hard as they can to get the devs attention and to convince them of improvements to the better (although devs often seam very hard of hearing )

SUGGESTIONS FOR GAME IMPROVEMENT

1. Planet city limits should be raised to allow more cities, even in the starwars movies there were entire planets that were nothing but cities.

Devs have said no to raising the limits since the second city rollout a year ago ... don't know if they will ever change their mind ... they seam to have overcome basic database issues, as they could increase our item limits by a big chunk ... but don't know about this in respect to even more shuttle ports on the shutte ticket menu

2. SEND A EMAIL TO ALL NOVICE POLITICAINS telling them about city and planet limits so they DONT get crushed like I was when they find out the hard way.

Hmm ... do the devs really have to send you a complete FAQ via mail? ... why stop at the city limits ... there is so much more that politicians need to know ... look around in this board how many questions there are all the time ... the email you would get would be so large nobody would have the patients to read it all ... and also you could want to send any combat profession emails about all the MOBs he can and can't tackle (due to resistants e.g.)

Not saying this is a bad idea ... only other professions don't get FAQs ... and where do you draw the line between "Info you need to get told" and "Info that is too much"

3. Allow the server to SKIP a level if that level is full.

Example: Lets say I have 85 folks in my town, I qualify for level 5 but the stupid thing wont advance me to level 5 because Level 4 is full and I can not get level 4.

The cap is there mainly to handle the number of shuttles on a planet ... so the cap of 10 rank 4 cities is specificly for rank 4 AND rank 5 cities

Don't know about this one also ... I have a guess at why cantinas are so heavy on lots (medic centers are "only" 3) ... players will want a lot more items in a cantina to decorate it properly ... and because a cantina will always hold lots of items the devs will never give it away for free (nothing is for free ) ...

Of course you could reduce them to needing only 4 lots ... or maybe even be dynamic ... have them use a default of 2 lots and let them use 3 lots if you have more than 200 items in the building (same with medic center?)

5.Grant LEVEL3 and above cities the ability to place a Salon

6. Grant Level 3 cities the ability to place CraftingStations around the town outside not just in buidlings.

I wouldn't reduce this to level 3 ... I'd want to see this as a skill a politician can have ... a skill to place ANY type of items in the city (e.g. Chairs and Tables ... decorations ...) or at least let them drop these items in gardens (that already cost maintenance enough ... but please drop it on the garden top and don't let it fall to the ground like instruments in the theatre )

I'm not in favor for these simple "only from rank X up" restricions ... I'd also like to see perks for small cities that larger ones don't get ... make small cities usefull and attractive for players ... make polulation shift ... bring change ... excitement ... life

Point 1 - Ok so I guess what your saying is a DEAD city should be allowed to stay because that person got in game first but has not playerd the game in over 2 months. So my 15 bucks a month can just go in the trash because I didnt get into SWG on day one and now my 15 bucks is not as good. City limits should be raised or Mayors that have not played in 2 months should be down graded or their town halls removed.

Point 2 - Why should a musician or doc be penilized helping out a city. Each City should be allowed 1 cantina and 1 hospitial and the person placing it should NOT have to give up a lot if that building is in a Player city. ALL the members of the city benifit from the building being there why shoudl the person helping everyone out get punished.

Point 3 - The issue with player cities is there are a lot of dead ones. sothe sollution is simple for Ghost towns rather then purging all of a players stuff if they are inactive for60 days or morewhy not have all the buildings and properties turn into a Holo Chip. Then the player if they come back in game can use each holo chip to restore a building with all it's things inside. If the location is currently occupied the player can chose a new location to restore their building. If the city limit is reached they are told City limit is reached and they have to wait.

This would allow room for new paying players to build cities and buidlings and NOT be punished because they just now started playing the game and it would allow folks that leave the game for 2 months or longer NOT to lose everything in their home or factroies.

Point 4 - A quick email notifing a politican about planet city limits or such is CRITICAL for the profession. I dont see this as a lenghty FAQ. I would have LOVED to read a Welcome to the politican class you should be aware that placing a city ........ That would have been a JOY to read. and if I am to busy toe read a FAQ that is emailed to me then I deserve to get shafted when I learn of a city limit.

Remeber ... this is simply the feadback you asked for ... different people bring in different points of views you have to consider

No I'm not ... I'm just telling you what the devs told us in numerouse posts ... totaly neutral. And simply raising the caps won't prevent even more ghost towns from taking up the new city lots ... you present a sollution to ghost cities yourself in point 3

Point 2 - Why should a musician or doc be penilized helping out a city. Each City should be allowed 1 cantina and 1 hospitial and the person placing it should NOT have to give up a lot if that building is in a Player city. Essentiall a Cantina or Med Center is the same as a house ... it can store items ... to balance the game the devs have to build in restrictions and make things cost you something ... so cantinas and med centers cost lots and maintenance just as a normal house. I'm not saying it's what I personaly like best about the game ... but then again I don't like the 250 SP cap either ... or the HAM sap ... or all the other caps in the game

Of course the player shouldn't be penilized to harsh ... but if the player simply puts up a cantina without trying to run it and acutally have his own fun with it (which is certainly worth even 5 lots) ... then he really has to ask himself why he's doing this.

Point 3 - The issue with player cities is there are a lot of dead ones. sothe sollution is simple for Ghost towns rather then purging all of a players stuff if they are inactive for60 days or morewhy not have all the buildings and properties turn into a Holo Chip. See the devs comments on their idea of a purge ... a purge is comming (so the devs say) ... suggestions are certainly good ... but n the end it will be up to the devs to come up with the balance of how to integrate it

Point 4 - A quick email notifing a politican about planet city limits or such is CRITICAL for the profession. I dont see this as a lenghty FAQ. Like I said ... there are countless things that are CRITICAL from different points of view ... but why is it so much different to read the FAQs here or in the ingame holocron as to you getting it emailed? I mean if you invest so many skill points, so much time and so many credits ... I can't even imagin not reading all the FAQs I can get (even if nothing is mailed to me) ... but like I also said ... the idea isn't a bad one ... you only have to balance the "real" critical Info from the uncritical.

let me try to answer this in a short post:

the forums are here for a purpose. if someone has no clue, read the FAQ.

the answer to dead cities is NOT to up the city caps, it's to purge and disqualify the dead cities. city caps doesn't mean "only x cities can be *at* level y" but "only x cities can be *at least* level y", therefore letting you skip a level makes no sense.

cantina/hospital/theatre are player structures and therefore cost lots. if you want one that doesn't cost lots, use your city hall.

as for salon, we asked for those long ago and never received a response.

Another suggestion that would be to awesome is this: Imagine once u make master politician that you can become an Interplanetary Emissary. This would allow you to find a empty dead planet land on it with a suit and then drop ozone andOxegen and other types of factories to being creating an atmosphere, then growing plant life etc etc until the planet reaches a point where you could start living on it with no equipment and its habitable. At that pointplayers could start player cities etc. Not sure if this is possible or what would be required but it would be a way to advance as Politician if your in a situation like me where the planet is full and you can not advance your city.

The latter sounds like a separate game in it's own right and I seriously don't see that happening in SWG - as nice as it would be, the potential for griefing and arguments is just immense. It's bad enough that individuals hold power over a city, but over a planet? I think not.

As regards your other post Lukious, I agree with the others. If you invest time, money, and skill points in a profession then it is your DUTY as mayor to go out and find the information you need. If you are willing to put so much effort in game then it is very little extra effort to come and learn about the profession here on the forums. Even if you avoid the forums there is still the Player City Guide on the Soe site and information in the ingame KB.

Bottom line: don't expect to be spoonfed.

You wouldnt be in charge of the planet you would only be making it liveable so that citys could be started
