Thread: Other people's factories outside our city limits

I have a question. The city that I am a mayor of is expected to grow from a village to a township this week. Right on the edge of the limits of our place, people have place a lot of flora farms. After our city update, the flora farms will be inside the city limits. My question is, what will happen to these farms? Will they become part of the city? Or will they be kicked out because I didn't give them zoning rights. Will I be able to tax these people since they are now in our city? Just wondering what will happen when our boarders expand.

Thanks for any info you can give me!

They will be a part of your city and you will be able to tax them.

I think I already know the answer to this but can I tax them individually? Will there be a way that I can get rid of these farms once they become part of our city?

No ... you can only tax averybody in general (and only property tax will effect harvesters/factories)

But since your a quite small city you could hit the tax cap (50%) and give your wanted citizens the money back.

Nope

You will get an email with their owners name in them though when they are incorporated. I would suggest sending out a nice email to them once you expand. But mostly, just keep the zoning rights active and pray that the resources shift soon!

shortly after my city first started we had a 98% concentration of high PE radioactives under us... and of course we were on a nice flat buildable area - the field of fusion reactors we had was monstorous Eventually though they shifted out and now everything is fine... just gotta be patient.

Yea I figured thatI wouldn't be able to do taxes for just one or two things. I am glad to hear that it will notify me of who they are once we expand. I know who two of the people are and I am going to send a nice e-mail to notify them of what is going to happen. I think it would be wrong to not do that first! I'm just trying to get all of my options just in case we have some people that are not willing to move.

We have plans for the land that is being occupied and we are planning to place some houses and one city building there. So I would like to get them moved ASAP. But I can be patient if they are willing to work with us. Thanks for the info everyone!

Don't expect them to move just because you want to use that land. It's their right to stay there if they want. However, as soon as the shift occurs, they'll pull up and relocate on their own. Don't make a big deal out of it to any of them. Otherwise, they may just be inclined to leave their harvesters there with a nice little message to you in their harvesters names.

If you have an urgent need, bribery is a nice way to go... i'll pay you xxx to compensate you for moving the harvester. But in the end, the only thing youcan do is wait it out really.

It's possible that the owners are running them as static harvesters (no redeeds - just harvest whatever is there). In this case, you might want to bribe them with re-deed costs. Most likely though, they will move when the resource moves. In the case of flora, that will be 7 to 21 days from when the resource first appeared.
