I have just tested a real horror story waiting to happen. Let's please see to it that it never does?

I had a non-citizen volunteer to be /citybanned. Then a militiafish (Mon Cal) granted him zoning rights!!!!

That... just... ain't... right.

I understand that /citywarn was removed in part because a CSR was shot down by a militia. Would that mean that the motive for SOE removing /citywarn was to protect members of their community? Would that mean they understand that people -can- be motivated to protect their community? Would that mean SOE might be interested in providing mayors the means to protect their communities?

Too much to ask...

Hi Zafo.

Allow me to give =my= motivation for this test.

Burzia.

'Nuff said?

A person who is /citybanned can =still= be granted zoning rights, become a member of the city, and never be able to be /citybanned again.

That would apply to Riverbend as well.

Hmm. I think that's allowed in the mechanics. If I recall, if you /transfer a structure to a banned player, they could declare residency and become unbanned (because they were a citizen), however I remember they had a patch that was supposed to fix it. I'm not so surethe fixworked....apparently banned toons can still use the shuttleports.

Why did your militia person grant zoning rights? It's not uncommon to grant rights instead of banning (remember the North Star incident?)...which is why I instruct our milita to use the specific /city and /grant rights...and I'm usually the only one to grant rights.

Is Burzia now a Temenos resident?

Oh....I think i misread your initial post. You tested this out on someone to see if it was possible....and it was.

You always need to be aware when you cityban...and don't accidentally grant rights. That's the best way to avoid it altogether. It would be nice if there was a list in city hall somewhere with the names of those that are banned. This way, the milita knows that they don't need to try to /ban them again...which would increase the chance of them accidentally granting them rights.

Thanks Khristen!

It has the potential to be a real heartbreaker.
