Our just became one. We are proudly re-decorating the city the best we can and adding gardens, etc as my politician skills increase.
Are there any useful benefits of being a metropolis, besides increasing the overall size of the city?

You can place more decorations, but I think that's it.
Congrats on the Metropolis, btw.
