Long story short, a crafter in our city did not like me enforcing our city laws about the merchant district. I asked him to move his workshop which was not housing any vendors, he refused and said I was out of line for asking.

Yadda yadda then came the personal attacks and other stuff I won't bore you with. Then he threatened to sell his house to rebels and give out our base times. Now we are an Imperial city and do not take kindly to that, so I ask him to leave.

Naturally, he refuses, so we put up a sign outside his house saying thatanyone who shops there will be banned from the city. This is the only possible way to enforce our laws against unruly merchants. Several hours later, the sign is gone, I presume by a CSR.

The sign was a streetlamp and was NOT blocking entrance to the house, it was by the house sign out front. Mr correspondent, I would like your take on this, are we politicians to suffer from such inability to enforce our laws?

First...Khristen is a female's name and so am I. So it's Mrs. Correspondent (because I am married).

If he was shouting personal attacks at you, the best thing you could have done was file a /report on him and let the CSRs handle it. Placing a sign up outside of his tent saying what it did, even if it was not blocking access,is a harassment against him in turn. He had every right to ask and have it removed.

Unfortunately, once a building is placed inside the city limits there isn't much a Mayor can do to control what goes on there. The most a Mayor can do is ask, as you did, if the player would be willing to move. If they refuse, there is nothing that can be done to force them to. They placed the structure with permission (either through /grantzoningrights or by not having zoning rights enabled) and therefore they have claim to that piece of land.

Ah sorry, this is my first time talking to ya

Well that makes the situation hopeless. This guy seriously hurt me outside of all the politics. Unfortunately I did not file a report, but I do have comprehensive screenshots of the conversation.

This was a total surprise as the guy was a great friend. There shouldn't be a reliance on trust any longer. I just want him out ofour city, that's all. He knows I can't do anything about it and he loves it.

People... I swear.

You might try to bribe him out. It's worked for some people.

Screenshots aren't usually much help in CSR issues because they can be faked pretty easily. If he starts in on you again, though, I would definitely report him for harassment and explain that it was the second time. It might get a little more in your corner.

Sometimes, just a suggestion, might be to have someone that is more neutral in the situation talk to the particular individual - hoping that maybe they can negotiate something for you both.

Also, we have definate districts set up so I feel your pain. Because we have three guilds living in the city, what I did was set up a city counsil - two of us *including myself counting for 1 from my guild* from each guild so that we can create the "laws" together so there is some repricutions guild wise if need be when people are way out of line.

man it really sucks, I think there should be a way to vote someone out of the city if they don't want to play with the community rules, but sadly like many things in the game, it has the potential of beign abused.

There is no way to talk it out.

I would've been happy with a settlement had he not made personal attacks against me, a good friend, and my entire guild.

I just want him gone, but i'm stuck with him because I have no way to act except officially boycott him and hope he leaves (which I believe he is doing so).

just /addignore him and ban him from all structures with ban list. its kinda cute actually
