Thread: New Roles and Powers of the Militia- a focus thread

Well since we're in the ideas mood on the board, so far, let's keep it up. What role do you feel the militia needs to fulfil since as of now they have virtually none and what new skills and abilities would you like to see them posess to help serve that role?


Please keep in mind before you post your idea that forced, nonconsentual PvP (/PvE?) is not going to occur nor is the ability to expell players from within your borders due to griefing reasons so don't even bother.



Roles/Changes





Designate Powers:


  • The role of minuteman defender of justice and aesthetic designer needs to be removed from each other. I would trust a few friends with access to /cityban any time of the day howeverchanging the urban plan is something I'd rather discuss and act upon instead of log in to find. The powers of the militia, hopefully new ones coming down the pipe, need to be able to be delegated not automatic. Adding in a terminal in city hall or creating a new structure to have control over them (Militia HQ) to house this terminal at rank 2-3 with martial skill 1-4 would work great to fill this ability.


Powers/Abilities





/cityban MKII


  • /cityban will include being allowed to enter citizen homes instead of solely civic buildings. This can be overidden by the owner simply by adding the name to their entry list letting the banned party to come in. It can also be made to only affect consenting homes with a checkbox allowing you to follow your city's ban list as your own ban list or not.


/citywarn MKII


  • /citywarn will be a lesser restrictive version of /cityban. Where banning a player will prevent them from using anything civic related in town, and possibly private homes if the above is implemented, warning them will only remove their ability to enter civic structures (cloning facility, city hall) and use mission terminals and that's basically it. They are allowed to shuttle in (like we can stop that) and out, use the bank, and trainers, and can enter any public home they aren't personally banned from. This would effectively be a 'ban lite' to be used to prevent clone camping in your own city and your own BH terminals to be used against your own jedi.

/cityignore



  • /cityignore would be an extremely slight charge against a person. It is basically the spam blocker for your town. When someone is /cityignored they are no longer able to use spatial, /emote, or have any emotes involve the big bubble above their head. Essentially all text that would float up for miles is removed and the character just sits there looking like an idiot. They can still /tell, use chat channels, and group up to talk to people just not use anything overtly visible.

Not all of these ideas are my own and I'll tack on any good ones posted below. Please don't just throw out ideas and disappear this is meant to be a focus thread not an ideabank. We need to try and evolve our thoughts and get a truly great polished ideas down pat instead of a rough sketch that the devs can fine tune as they see fit.

sounds good but they need to have some sort of combat feature,


maybee a millita TEF which is gainable from a player attacking a citizen of the city inside city limits this would stop griefing and allow the millita to protect



also an npc function of this would be nice

Was removed since it meant 20 on5 jedi-BH ratio when they where trying to limit it to 1 on 5.


The NPC idea is somewhat interesting however with meatlumps being able to 1 shot non-combatants it could also lead to griefing or being meaningless to higher lvl 'toons.
