Thread: An Idea for Master Politician

As we all know save for the badge there is no reason for someone to become a master Politician. I have an Idea that may help kill 2 birds with one stone, this is a repost from my post in the GCW forum;

I have been thinking about why there is so much hate in this game, when it comes to the GCW.

The main reason is the loss of your hard earned time and faction points/creds for bases and turrets.

I know when we lost our 13 turrets to Reb exploiters in 10 minutes that was the end of the GCW for me. Whats the point of all the hard work if some ass kid can exploit them away in a few mins. The same goes for the base's. To much time effort and creds, to lose them with little or no effort by the game ruining exploiters.

So how to fix it?

My idea is a simple one allow free base's, complete with a covert scanner and full complement or turrets.

Ok ok before you flame let me explain how to do it to prevent a zillion bases taking up all the landscape of our planets.

Each player city is given 1 base per week.

The mayor (should be for master politicians only as there is no reason to be one now)of said city can choose the faction of the base, or chose not to have one at all (for those citys that don't want PVP)

This option can be added to the city management terminal, once selected Mayor recieves a special base deed in line with his City size and faction. This special base deed can only be placed inside the city limits, and will only be issued if there is no base currently in the city.

The base, and turret size of the base, is determined by the the size of the city.

For Metropolis you get a detachment HQ with 5 large turrets, For City 4 you get a tactical HQ with Medium turrets, and for city 3 you get a small base with small turrets. No base's will be issued for lower citys (helps control base population, and promotes player citys) Players can still buy turets and bases from the recruiters as normal, for those people that want more or dont have/live in a player city.

There should also be an incentive to attack/defend the bases.

For theattackers you get faction pts and creds. For the defenders, you get to keep your base and recruiter. If your city base is destroyed during the week, you may not replace the base the rest of the week, andyou must pay a penalty to replace it the following week. If you successfully defend your base during the week you recieve a credit towards the destruction penalty.

I think this would bring the GCW back to the game, and remove alot of the hate at the same time.

A faction HQ with 5 turrets per week is a bit outlandish. Say you get one faction structure per week (base, turret....) that may be an interesting idea. Then it would take 6 weeks for you to get a fully loaded base. I would support that.

However, I think the base would have to be limited to be placed within the city limits.

The one big problem you will have. A base takes 6 lots. I would think these special city bases should be non-tradeable. Are you going to have the mayor have to give up 6 lots to place them? Are you going to make it a civic structure so that it takes up no lots?

Well considering that you can take out a base in this bugged/exploited game in 10 minutes, its really no big deal.

My idea was that they could only be placed in the city like any other city structure, and like Bank,Shuttle,Cloning Center, ect. would require no lots, but you would have to be a Master Politician to place it. Also the deed only works in the city it generated in, and only 1 base per city.

The main reason for this is that people are fed up with this game, grinding away for days for a base/turrets only to have them exploited away, and I think this would relieve the hate that has emerged in our game.

I know you say fix the exploits, but I have been in this game since beta and everytime they fix 1 they create 3 new ones with the same end result.

This way even if you lose the baseyou know that next week you will have a new one, and not be as upset if it was exploited away. This would remove the joy from the exploiting griefers and maybe send them on to another game to seek their twisted form of pleasure.
