Thread: Hail Mayor Tetran
So thus the run for Mayor (I would rather have gotten him to go along with the idea but as a founding mayor he is very set in his ways, and is playing the 'things have been just fine' card. (of course I talk to lots of the citzens too, who say no, things need to be different, thus I run for office). Also, not many people are willing to run against a city founder, they are kinda held on a pedastal, and people tend to act like you kicked their puppy if you go against the founder.
Yea working with the mayor would be the easy way, but then again the mayor has to want to work with you. In may case the mayor told me not to let the door hit me on the way out. SO the hard way it is then.
I guess I am suprised by the number of Master Politicians who have ZERO will or desire to play the role of a Politician.
Personally I think a Council is a MUST if you are going to have multiple guilds in the same town. People suck at communicating with each other and leaving things to get passed by word of mouth is a guarantee that hard feelings will arise about decisions that get made. Unilateral decisions have the same effect.
Glad to hear some one show up with a working council..that will be most helpful

Also founding mayors, dont actually get elected. Nobody chose them in the first place...

If it is clear that he will lose an election, it is not unheard of for mayors to pull up the city hall rather than give someone else a victory. Be very careful. You might be better off just sucking up your pride and leaving the race if you fear that something like that would happen.
Yeah, this is true, it has happened in the past. But contacting CSRs does help with this problem. It's pretty universally recognized as "griefing" and WILL be acted upon by CSRs.
So, since it's been brought up, and if things get this ugly, here's what you do:
If the current Mayor ever actually makes a threat that they will destroy the City Hall if they are in danger of losing the election... /report them! This basically sends the most recent chat conversation to the CSRs. And it is important to have proof before they will take any action.
After you send the report, immediately file a CSR ticket, further explaining the situation, the threat, and that you used the /report command.
Like I said, hopefully it won't come to this, but if it does, now you are prepared. ![]()
Just an update, the incumbent mayor decided not to run, and some other interested parties stepped up, and we have a 3-way race going on.
Its pretty invigorating to have an actual , real election going on. Cant say its easy, and I cant say it hasnt had its rough moments but its really cool to see the HUGE turnout the town is having for this election. The city is showing that its alive, and not full of ghost accounts. (we have a 48% turnout so far, which by American standards is pretty darn good, and by SWG standards is simply amazing)
Oh and I was asked what town this is, but I think the asker of the question already knows ;-) I would say specifically but I dont belive its wise to call out names here as I dont want to usher in outside influences into what is a local affair. Our cities politics belong to the vast majority who are members of the guilds that call it home (I think out of the 114-120 citizens we have like only 2 of them arent a member of the cities guilds.)
To be clear I speak in deliberate generality about my city here because I do not want its name called out during a election, opening it up to tampering from the outside (and you all know it can happen). (if it was up to me, id insturct the militia to deny all requests for zoning rights during the week of the election, especially on the last day)

Elections are a delicate time in a large player city but I know the city, regardless of who is Mayor, would like to get in touch with our neighbor cities and work with them.
Im sure we would welcome dialouge with you and other Mayors.
