Gobo Gable reporting here, for the holonet network. Veteran's Retreat informational holo. 2
Located in the Nym Protectorate region of Lok, Veteran's Retreat is an incredible tribute to, not only the finest architecture in the game, but to that of the veteran citizen. With it's highly defined guidelines and it's pre-planed structural layout, Veteran's Retreat is destined to become a landmark city on the adventure planet of Lok. With a special arrangement for a lein with Nym, veteran Smuggler Geevo Deem has arranged for an incredible city to be constructed on the shores of the Dioxide River. Bisected nearly equally by the river, the city has two distinctive halves. There is bustling commerce on one shore of the city, and there is the quiet and relaxed residential side with it's many show-piece homes. Whichever type of environment suits you... VR has a home for you. Only the finest of society is being accepted into Veteran's Retreat. You must have been a resident of the galaxy (playing the game) for one year. Nestled at the edge of the Canyon Corsair Bluffs, in the Geggedy flatlands, the city is comprised of nearly all LARGE guild halls. It is truly a sight to behold.
The city has all the finest features, from banks and cantinas, to garages and hospitals.
Due to a substantial entrance fee, there are absolutely NO TAXES in VR. There are millions and millions of credits in the treasury thanks to the keen mind of the city's creator and current mayor. "The main concept behind Veteran's retreat is based upon stability. Too many cities have risen and fallen all too quickly in this Galaxy. Veteran's retreat is paid for by it's citizens... up front. This guarantees them that as the city grows, it's already been paid for. There are no broadcasts requesting donations to the city, not taxes, no personal funding by the mayor... it's all paid for by those who enjoy the city the most... it's citizens. It (Veteran's retreat) will be around for quite some time.", says Mayor Deem. While some may complain of the high entrance fee, it seems to be working just fine to ensure a bright future for this city. Those who become citizens show that they are serious about finding a stable location for their homes and businesses. Geevo also says, "The entrance fee is in place to ensure that only the finest citizens live within the borders of our fine city. While I do understand that there are those who can not afford to live here, I also understand that the city stability is that much more, cemented in place because of it." There is no low income housing in Veteran's retreat.
One of the first planets in the Karthakk system to be colonized, the harsh world of Lok was originally home to outlaws, who saw the world as a potential staging ground for raids into the Mid-Rim. Over time, Lok became known as a "pirate world," where anarchy and violence were the only constants.
Lok has fairly varied terrain, ranging from the dangerous sulfur pools to bubbling lava pits. The landscapes are generally foreboding: jagged mountain ranges, long expanses of baked desert, and desolate flats are typical environments on Lok. The presence of pirates and others is evident in the shipwrecks, burned-out bases, abandoned settlements, and destroyed vehicles that litter the planet.
There are many attractions for the citizens of Lok, not the least of which are the many points of interest in their datapads, and even a few that are not, such as the Jedi shrine, located within 1000 meters of the very center of the city. For the hunters, there are many creatures on Lok:
Crazed Gurk Destroyer
Desert Vesp
Droideka
Dune Kimogila
Enraged Dune Kimogila
Enraged Kimogila
Feral Gurk
Flit
Giant Dune Kimogila
Giant Kimogila
Kimogila
Langlatch Marauder
Nym
Nym's Domesticated Gurk
Vesp Hunter
This was written by one of my citizens. We are rank 4 now with a shuttle.
The largest reason I am posting this in here is to let the Politician communitiy see that there are some people that work hard even though I only took the profession after they removed the skillpoint cost. Veteran's Retreat has grown every week except for one, and we are at 57 citizens. I am sure our growth will slow now, but it is a good city and we will continue to expand.

Geevo has done a great job building Veteran's Retreat. It is a fantastic model for a new city that can be sustained over the long term. He really has gone about it the way a good Politition should.
