Thread: calling all eclipse mayors! (testing needed)
- record the current treasury amount
- set your sales tax to 10% and all other taxes to 0
- have a merchant with a vendor in your city list something onto the vendor
- have the friend purchase that item from the bazaar search (preferably something expensive so the tax money would show up clearly in your treasury, if you need cash there should be "blue frogs" up where you can get credits from)
- record the treasury amount again
- repeat if necessary, and if you can get the merchant online they can verify if they're receiving the money.
please post your results here

So there's a chance that the sales tax may be un-nerf'd?
It's not that sales tax is un-nerfed, unfortunately, just that the new system may make it work even less. If that made any sense. LOL
One other step to add to that test list is that the merchant will need to list an item after the sales tax has been enabled. If I remember right, it doesn't change items that are already listed. It only adds on to items that are listed after the tax is enabled.

actually, we're not sure what happens. we know that sales tax works at 10%, and for other (I assume lower) percentages I have reports from players ranging from it going to the merchant to the money just disappearing.
unfortunately, I haven't the slightest idea as to how this will work with the new system. I'll need to grab a QA/dev and make some announcements in my city to do testing that's going to disrupt normal operations, so I was hoping that someone from Eclipse can help me with this before I can get that all set up
Put some items on vendor so they included the tax and has someone purchase the item.
There was no change in the treasury.
Doh! - Forgot to check if I got the extra money or not as a merchant.. will check tomorrow. Sorry, me goes to bed now! BRain requires renewing!

Okay, did some testing today. Set all taxes to 0 (bar the shuttleport at 100cr), then set the sales tax to 10%.

heh, thanks
p.s.: could you also do a "controlled" test, where you have sales tax set at 10% and ask someone to buy an item from the vendor itself? (ie. not remotely) we can then see if all sales tax is bonked, or if it's just sales tax from bazaar sales.

oh yeah, let me add that in
I look forward to the day that we actually have the in game tools to have cities that are properly self financed, with a breakdown of income and expenditure provided via a nice weekly summary mail when the city maintenance is withdrawn. Not too much to ask, is it?
Where you honestly shocked that this isn't working? I'm not trying to be rude here but I just don't see the great desire to force this onto live servers in such a rush. I know they tried to impliment this a few months back and pulled it due to the listing of prices issues. Could they atleast pull back on it 'til the can get our taxes working right? Kinda assy to force us to fund a city now on the shuttle and garage alone. (IF they are working correctly.)

Thank you, Kyorlana, for taking the time to test this. I am so very glad that someone in the position to do it took the time to do that simple test. The final check of whether the 10% continues to work as intended should give us the answer we need in regards to the current state of the sales tax issue in relation to the new vendor search/remote purchase system.
Kyorlana just went onto TC5 and tested a few items... 10% sales tax didn't work. I'm gonna go kick and scream in the corr forum now
