Thread: Ability to place a house, no lot count

This suggestion is in regard to POLITICIAN

I recently took over as mayor for one of our guild cities and have found some things that have been annoying to deal with as politician.

First and formost I would like to request that the mayor of a city as well as those he appoints as militia have the ability to place atleast ONE house that does not count toward thier lot count...let me explain.

As mayor and militia we are constantly recruiting new members to the guild and seetting them up with a home in our city. 95% of the time these are people who are new to the game in general and have no idea on how to go about placing a house. And it takes forever to try to explain how and where you want the house placed in following the plan you may have for city design.

So by allowing the mayor and militia to place ONE home that does not count to their current lot count limit, it will allow them to place a home for the new member and then /transferstructure over to them.

I am thinking that you give the mayor and members of the militia to have the ability to place ONE home like that and make it so that if not transfered within 24 hours that it gets destroyed, this will stop people from abusing this privledge. And then once transfered to someone else, they can once again place another home that will last for 24 hours.

Also, members of the militia should have the ability to places houses without needing zoning rights. As it is now, they need to have another militia member grant them rights to be able to place a home themselves...or the mayor.

This kind of defeats the purpose of having people members of milita if they cant perform duties that would help the mayor in his day to day duties.

I currently have 3 milita members who help me in recruiting new residents to the city, and I am hindered by the fact that they cant themselves place a home, nor place a home without it counting toward their lot count.

I wholeheartedly look forward to this feature being implemented. As well as I am sure countless other players of the game.

I see your point, but I can just see what COULD happen with this. A mayor adds the ENTIRE city on the malitia list, and they all put down 1 extra house. Then they just use it for storage. As good as this idea's intent may be, there will have to be some fine tuneing done. I'm about to start my own city as well. I ended up leaving 2 lots open just to put down houses for the citizens. I hate to do it, but it's the easiest way I figure to ensure they are put down right.

It's a good idea. Maybe it can be just tweaked around a little bit. Make it so only the mayor can do this. Also, before the mayor places the structure, he is given the option to make it a "transfer structure," or his "own structure." If he selects his own structure, then the structure takes lots and he maintains it just like any other house. If he selects transfer structure, then he can place it like any other house, but it wont take any lots. However, the mayor has 24 hours to transfer it before it goes poof, and the only thing he can do with the house is transfer the structure- not name it, put maintenance, or items in it.

No, your misunderstanding me......yes the mayor AND the militia have the ability to place a house....BUT..once placed it can only EXIST for 24 hours or until the mayor or the militia /transferstructure to the new member. At which time the house is either destroyed due to the 24 hours running out....or successfully transfered into the new members lot count usage.

And if and when it is transfered to the new member...it now belongs to him and counts toward HIS lot count.....and once transfered...then the guy who placed it either the mayor or militia....is now able to place ANOTHER house in the same manner in the event that he has more than one member to house.

The idea behind this is to make it MUCH easier for guilds to not only recruit and house new members...especially those new members who are NEW to the game and cant find the any key....but furthermore to ensure that the houses are correctly placed in accordance with the layout and design that the mayor and guild may have for thier city.

Just like the static cities such as Moenia and coronet were designed with forethought and a purpose, so should player cities rather than just handing a new guy a deed and saying...ok go slap it up somewhere !...I have seen MANY player cities that look as if people were first blindfolded and spung around and sent out to place their home. NOT good.

I for one as a map designer in various games would like to have some say in the layout of my city, and make it look as astetically pleasing as possible.

Over the past week or so, I have had to endure spending atleast 30 to 45 minutes PER MEMBER trading a deed to new members...then tediously typing to them trying to explain "Ok put the house here and make sure the door is facing this way"....just to have them place it out of whack with the door facing the opposite direction...and then I have to ask them to re-deed the house and try again. When it would just be MUCH easier for me to slap a house up and /transferstructure to them and go on my merry way and actually get some game time in other than spending it placing a house. And trust me...its NOT fun when you have recruited over 50 members within a week !

Again, I throw myself upon the mighty SONY gods to hear my plea on this issue, and bestow upon us unworthy underlings this one small favor.

PLEASE make it possible for mayors AND militia to be able to place a home that will last for 24 hours or until transfered into a new members name. I do not see any way to abuse this feature as outlined !

I actually ended up stealing your idea Sorry about that, I only scanned over it. I think this is a very a good idea, as not everyone has their own lots to place every structure for them.

Good idea, it's been bandied about before and I think the devs never really committed to a yay or nay. (and I know they are going against some of their previous statements in some regards) So long as it has the 24 hour safeguard I really can't see it as being griefed. Who wants a storage shed that lasts less then a day? It's a good temporary solution but not long term. It would help out in urban planning loads as well as help get members to join. Moving, now, 400 items is a pain in the ass let alone finding someplace to hold it as a halfway house.
