But I agree it would be cool, especially if say the PC governor of Tatooine had to personally explain to Lord Vader why the planet is in Rebel hands.

Perhaps if the Rebs control a planet they can have free elections, but if the Imps control the planet they can 'impose' a Governor on the planet (maybe an Imp only system of electing a Moff to run the planet, and only the Imps ranking Major and above could vote)

If the Imps take over from the rebs, the elected Governor is deposed (and the deposed governor shows up on the BH terminals as a wanted criminal lol). If the rebs take over from the Imps, same thing.

Don't worry, you can always put the governor on the BH terminals. Assassination missions.

I'm not to sure I agree with the Master part....sure, it would be nice to have Master content, but most planets would be lucky to have 1 Master Politician (so not much of a competition). After all, not even Governors are Masters at politician. I think it would be great to open it to all present mayors, and it you lose your city while holding the spot, "emergency" voting could take place. Only those with residence in a player city would be able to vote....would give more incentive to live in a player city.

As for advatages..sure GCW, but what about powers? Put a tax on the spaceports? The money brought in funds the GCW faction that the Governor belongs to, and adds to an increase in numbers of patrols etc. Maybe a special statue for thier town? Would have to have a special "outfit" reward for them.

I like this idea. It gives Politicians some incentive to master the profession, since there really isn't any benefit besides the title.

Obi-Wan: Really? I trained the man who killed him...
The Emperor: Live Lord Vader. Live, my apprentice. Live...
Amidala: There is still good in him...

monthly elections,

Master Politicians go to the planet's capitol and apply to run

based on the player's faction, could alter some GCW stuff for that faction and provide bonuses for using the bazaar and things like that

i know it will never happen but would be fun to see

I dont think the Empire would be too happy if a planet elected a Rebel to the Governership

Besides, Governerships for the most part are posts granted by the Empire, more specifically the Moffs.
