Thread: Don't shoot the messenger
It seems fairly universal that people don't want to see /citywarn removed. That's understandable.
People are upset because it's being removed anyways. That's also understandable.
Our correspondant, Plinka, brings us this update (rather than relying on the oh-so-informative patch notes...) on the day it's released and asks for strong arguments to take to the devs as to why /citywarn should stay. She gets flamed to oblivion for it. I don't understand.
Plinka is our representative to the developers. She can argue, state, even cajole for us, but she is NOT the developers. Up until this point, she's been widely regarded as one of the very best of the correspondants, and those who remember the outcries when she (nearly) resigned from the position in protest will know just what I mean. The present nerf is not her preference (I presume from her posts on the matter, discounting devil's advocate-ing)nor her fault. It's ok to disagree with her, and it's even sometimes ok to have heated discussions, but suggestions that she's somehow betrayed "the cause" or that she doesn't want to see politicians be what they should be are simply silly. Please remember as you post that there's a real person on the other end of the keyboard, and that she's put a lot of work into making our profession everything we hope it can be.
Thanks for all the hard work, Plinka. :-)
It's not universal at all. Just all the griefers etc. that enjoyed being able to beat up on non-combat non-PvP types that are so upset.
Kind of like when you take a toy from a toddler - they cry too ![]()
Yes, thank you Plinka.
You're takinga hard path, playing Devil's advocate, but from experience it is necessary for you to do that. You have admiration from me, for what that's worth.
