First lets start of by see exactly what the Devs reasons for removing /citywarn are:

Because its being used as a widespread, horrible exploit to:

  • Prevent players (all types of players) from getting to cool, fun content in the game.

  • Its being used as a horrible grief tactic to just waylay and kill unsuspecting players. Even players who have _zero_ interest in conflict or PvP.

Remember that one of the main philosophies of this game is if you do not want to play PvP, you do not have to.

Ok now that this is out of the way please no post on your opinion on what a player city should or shouldn't be. To be brief on this, if the devs were going to put /citywarn in-game in the first place then they must of thought up some kind of purpose to it.

Now getting into my solution that I have formed over making and hearing many arguements over the issue.

Because its being used as a widespread, horrible exploit to:

  • Prevent players (all types of players) from getting to cool, fun content in the game.

Increase the NBZ. Give me some reasons why this shouldn't/can't be done. It has been done before, why not again. The Imperial Outpost on Lok got an increase in its NBZ, and a nearby city, while not on top of the IO, was moved without warning because its city limit could one day overlap the NBZ. The city in question was moved some 3-5 kms. They accepted it and continued with their city.

  • Its being used as a horrible grief tactic to just waylay and kill unsuspecting players. Even players who have _zero_ interest in conflict or PvP.

Soon to be fixed with several solutions added on. First, everyone should know that on TC or atleast in development they are planning on making it so that the nearest clone center automaticly means the nearest NPC cloning center, this means that in no way can you be repeatedly killed over and over again.

Remember that one of the main philosophies of this game is if you do not want to play PvP, you do not have to.

Along with the above solution that is going to be used I suggest this so that it does not happen at all to begin with.

First when a city gains the ability to have militia, there should be a second vote by the citizens to give the city militia the /citywarn command. It must be a majority and they city militia will not get the command until the next update, assuming they still have enough votes for it. If for some reason during the week the votes fall short of a majority then the /citywarn command is automaticly taken away from the militia until the next update at which time the votes will be totaled again.

Now if a city's militia does have the /citywarn command than this is my way of keeping people who want to avoid Pvp safe. When ever a person comes with in 50m of the city limit they are warned that this city's militia has the "command" and when they attempt to cross that limit they will get a message box asking them if they wish to continue, alot like entering a PvP battlefield. If they click yes then they may enter, knowing full well the risk in doing so, even if he knows the people here will not attack him for no reason.

Same thing happens when ever someone attempts to buy a ticket to the "command able" city, they can not recieve a ticket unless they click yes, giving consent that they can be entering PvP.

It is also my personaly opinion that you should be able to vote for a mayor and this from your declared house, that way you prevent mayors who block the ballot box.

Many other things need tweaking when it comes to player cities but these are some of the most urgent. Yes I am annoyed that we recieved almost no warning that this was going to happen, but that is understandable given the possiblity that players were being griefed and somthing fast had to be put into place. But now I want some answers to the good ideas people have been posting, and what is going to happen. I am totally pro-citywarn, changes are needed but if it stays out of the game than I think cities will lose their appeal.

Thank You
