Thread: I challenge you to come debate me on the Discussion forums......
Nerf The Nuna !!!
Why?
- It's way to overpowered. It can own a brand new toon.
- If it's carniverous it may involve you in involuntary combat.
- Creature Handlers can use them (or is that gnorts? oh well...nerf them too).
- There's just too many of them.
- It doesn't drop uber loot.
- Face it. Nunas are ugly.
- Most importantly, i'm in the minority in this. So it's bound to be nerfed ![]()
/sarcasm off
Seriously.......This is getting ridiculous. A few players complain and something gets nerfed or taken out of the game. A majority of players identify a problem with something and nothing happens.
Devs...if you are reading this, i implore you to pls start approaching problems and fixes from multiple angles instead of "the easy approach". Take /citywarn for example.........
A theater is host to a dance troup (see CoE on radiant if you disbelive). There is a crowd of over 30 players watching the show. JIMBOB decides that he wishes to see the show also and attends. Midway through the show JIMBOB decides that he doesn't like these particular dancers. He begins to catcall and make semi-lewd comments.......
JIMBOB....."shake it baby!" (Jimbob gets on stage and begins doing the booty dance)
MAYOR..... "Mr. Bob. Pls get down off the stage. We're watching a show and have paid good credits to bring these performers here.
JIMBOB..... "No"
MAYOR....."Mr Bob. Pls desist your antics. It's ruining the show".
JIMBOB....."No"
Knowning that the Theater is not a civic structure the mayor realizes that /ban will not work on Jimbob.
MAYOR....."Will everyone in the crowd pls put Jimbob on /ignore"
Show continues with minor interuptions as more people are asked to put Jimbob on /ignore.
Jimbob is not highly agitated. He doesn't really like being ignored. Jimbob desides that he has made new friends here (whether they want to be or not) and will stay here a bit. The shuttleport looks like a good place....
VISITOR....."Hello i've just arrived in town vis the shuttle. Can you show me where the weaponsmith is?"
JIMBOB....."No."
VISITOR..... "Excuse me?"
JIMBOB....."I said no. You don't want to go there anyway. My cousin Billybob make better weapons anyway. To top it off.....this city trys to rip everyone off."
Realizing this is a disgrunteled (sp) player the visitor seeks the weaponsmith on his own. Jimbob procedes to follow the visitor around town making rude remarks the whole time. The Mayor sees this and approaches the visitor.
MAYOR....."Heya and welcome visitor. Pls put Jimbob on ignore so that you may enjoy your time here.
VISITOR....."i will...thank you"
The visitor leaves making a mental note that at first impression this city has problems. The mayor desides to station the militia next to the shuttleport so that they can warn visitors about jimbob and ask each and every visitor to put Jimbob on ignore. Afterall Jimbob appears here to stay. He doesn't visit the civic structures (he's banned from them), he just follows visitors. To make matters worse Jimbob has a few friends that have taken great sport in this and are also living in the city with Jimbob now. Reporting doesn't seem to work. The CSRs are too backlogged and no one is on when they can address the problem. The cities economy (fragile to begin with) is plumeting (sp). No more performers wish to grace the cities theater or cantina. Very few people have asked to become residents now, and some seem to be moving The city will die.
It is human nature to avoid conflict. People do not like to be harrassed by other people. We tend to take the easier way in things than the road less traveled. In this case a /warn would have saved a lot of time and alot of problems. After awhile Jimbob would grow tired of having to travel over and over again to said city. Yes..... /warn is a horrible funtion that is being used by players concerning PoIs, but i can see no other reason to do away with it. It boils down to politics. If you belligerently /warn all of your visitors, then you will eventually not have any. It's how the cities were designed to be run. A good mayor will find the even balance. A mayor that /warns for amusement will eventually either be overthrown by his/her subjects (even in a PA run city), or will lose thier citizens. Then there's the people who wanted to be left alone by visitors and created stronholds for themselves. This was the town's choice. Nym did it. You lose faction with him and his guards will kill you (unwanted NPC contact
). This is roleplaying. This is economy. This IS the Star Wars Universe! We're in a galactic civil war. It didn't only consist of Imps and Rebs. It consisted of Hutts, minor warlords, ewoks, sandpeople, Nym, etc...... Everyone had their own piece of their world and they chose to run it as they saw fit. Next time i visit Fort Tuskin, perhaps i should ask the leader there for a cup of tea. It's a PoI, but people visit by choice. Just like player cities. Should i be upset when the Tuskin Leader bashes me over my head just because i walked into Fort Tuskin?
As for my example above.....
This is a real possibility. We've had a dance troup move into our city. Other cities were upset by this and have threatened to ruin their performances. It's all Pollyanna till it happens to you. Reporting will solve nothing. If you belive this you are truly living in a fantasy world.
My 2 credits....(and then some)
*chuckle* I fail to find anything to debate there, except that if you nerf nunas, my graul mauler will no longer get them stuck between his teeth . . . but I will fail to collect the reams and reams of hides from them (what me mauler leaves behind anyways . . . and my malklok doesn't step on . . .soNO GO on nerfing nunas!

Your point would come across better and see a wider audience if you shortened up thesarcastic part to a line or twoso people don't stop reading before realizing it's a serious post.
I think the devs are well aware of the possible problems we will run into when /citywarn is gone, except that sometimes themiss the obvious stuff even when we point it out to them.
The conflict is that their rule of "no involuntary PvP" trump all other concerns except for "no exploits". They'd rather everyone's game was ruined by JimBob shaking it in his underwear on stage than to have 10 people get ganked against their will.
I suppose with the fact that death incurs a penalty to your character, it's worse in their eyes than the psychological "penalty" we all pay when jerks gank our good time.
I sure hope they give us a worknig tool to deal with jerks in our own little towns. But I'm not holding my breath. I stopped that tactic after I passed out last week waiting for pets to follow correctly without stopping.
I'm just wonderingjust a fewthings :
A. Theater and Cantina are Owned building and then the admins of the building can ban troublemakers... I don t see the point spamming for a /ignore in the room...
B. Take this to an NPC City, where before the Player cities, events were done.... No /warn, /ban and other tools to kick a troublemaker. You had to deal it otherwise.
C. SOE Rule number 1
1. You may not harass or threaten other players.
...
2. To expound upon the general guidelines, you may not harass other players.
Harassment is defined as specifically targeting another player or group of players to harm or inconvenience them. Harassment can take many forms, as it goes to the state-of-mind of the person or Squad on the receiving end of the action. However, in order to account for those who are more sensitive than others, the CSR involved will make a determination as to whether or not thereported issuewould be considered harassment and act accordingly.
That s by the book. Griefers needs to be reported and that s it. Don't try to call on these quite rare times where a psycho decided to cancel his account to pull the all power-for-me /warn tool again.
Exemples are just that, you give them whatever meaning you want.
