Thread: Hey Plinka, When can we expect the caps to increase?
I seriously have no idea if you are privileged to this kind of information...but as many of us are twiddling our thumbs waiting, I thought I'd give it a shot.
This week....Next? Before Publish, with Publish After Publish?
lotsa room on Lok, Rori, Dantooine, and Talus for you.... prepare to twiddle until those caps are met
I wish to strongly express my frustration with the handling of this information.
This ticked off alot of people, and folks are leaving all the time. I hope that you take it seriously when we say people are actually leaving this game. Player City caps have been a very hard thing to take, but the flightly "discussions" about the cap raise is causing alot of damage.
Please try and let us know. This goes for Plinka, Thunderheart, and any other dev that is in the position to help.
I'm starting to feel the other way. Places like Tatoonie have become a joke. There are cities all over the place now. Most are really suburbs of vacant NPC cities. Then we have cities like Mos Kryat to exploit what should be a wilderness area, now a public hunting preserve. Or Mos Jabba a quick shuttleport from the palace when a town like wayfar has none.
I think player cities are a good idea, but very poorly implimented. Players want control of their city growth, but placement should have been set up by the development team to fit more in with the Star Wars universe. Horizons, has player cities as well, but the sites are preset to fit in with the overall feel of the world.
They said "Before the next big patch".
Whether they'll keep to their word is something else.
I believe that "Cities all over the place" is overestimated. Please read on.
The populace is localizing into Cities. This leaves more of the natural terrain exposed. Read on more![]()
The percieved "clutter" is with the map. NOT COUNTING Cities made in zones that shouldn't have them (Krayt)...........if you didn't see all those cities marking up your map ("V"), would you really feel that "Cities are all over the place!"? ?
<--edit button complaint.
I failed to finish the above points with.....
....Therefore, instead of adjusting cities by effecting and angering countless people, would a simple Planetary Map adjustment fix perceived clutter? For example....have default be NPC cities only, and PC active only if players activate them with map options?
To Kised, and everyone else who argues the No Cap Fix...whether player city or not...there will still be massive amounts ofstructures in certain regions of planets. If there were better places with flatter land to do so, then you'd see them spread out further, however the major rush after patch day had all of thefirst cities placed extremely close to the existing major towns. As for Cities on Tatooine, the land south of Bestine and between AH and Eisley is the flattest in the game (probably 9000m diameterpure flat landbetween them combined)...both easyfor city planning, and already completely settled due to the major points of interest in the area. You can't expect people to build elsewhere without proper motivation. It's asking people to move their houses to the middle of nowhere where there is no business and no action. Why base a large active imperial PA on talus when you could base it out of Theed. Everyone is equal in this game, and people definately don't pay 15 bucks a month to set up a house in the middle of BFE (excuse the term) then expect to be happy about it.
I myself had my town of55+ citizensforced outof prime land and into theTatooine wilderness.... however unfair this was It was it was the only choice. We could have moved to another planet, but that would mean the buying/building of 55+ new houses and have theextra kick in the faceof being too backwater for business and completely out of the way for any kind of active gameplay.
Would you be able to tell all those people, "okay dreams over, guess we live on lok somewhere now... Anybody able to hold300 items while i take down my vendor?" I doubt it....
in any case, the hotfix will save 1000s of people grief swg wide, and seriously patch up a lot of vicious community hatred (structure griefing included). It really can't go in soon enough.
