Okay, got some questions that I've got conflicting answers to. First, when a new mayor is elected in, do they gain full and total control of the city hall and all civic structures and does the old owner retain any control? Second, how many lots do city halls take up? Third, once someone is a citizen of a town, is there any way to remove them as a citizen?

Hrm, I can answer those.

First: Yes the new mayor gains all power, over taxes, miltiia, civic structures, etc. The old Mayor is left as a citizen (given they put a house down before and then declare residence there.)

Second: 0 - the City hall takes up Zero lots and I believe all civic structrures take up zero lots. So yes, you can have your Mayor's mansion be a PA hall and use up all 9 lots if you like.

Third: No, sadly if you get stuck with a rotten citizen the most you can do is bug them to leave. There is no way to boot them out as of yet. (Well it may be possible to /cityban them but to be honest I have never run into a situation where that was required)

So would it be the same as if the new mayor had placed the city hall then? He would gain the city hall and everything inside?

Also, how mad do people get when you join their city and run your mayor against them? heh

Yes, everything inside (furniture, etc.) is now property of the new mayor. It would be wise to be on good terms with your running mate if you like to keep your city hall as your personal storage bin.

As for you second question that is somewhat opinion based and will vary from situation to situation. I had a citizen ask me if he could run against me when I let him in. I welcomed the challanged and would be more than willing to see him run. I even placed a politician trainer for him to train in it. Shortly after though he found out that he would never gain the majority vote so he dropped it. However I have been traveling to a neighboring city and have been /cityban ed because I was a novice politician and inside thier city (I guess they thought I would run against the mayor) ... I have a feeling I was dealing with someone that shouldn't have been granted those powers.

So it depends on the situation, I hoped that helped.

Well, I've got a guild and we've been planning on having a city... There's one in particular in the spot we want to place so we were going to join and run against the mayor... Heh.

Hrm, obviously not the wisest idea. Keep in mind you will probably need 50%+ of the total population of the city on your side to win. Either you have a large guild backing you or you should move on. Furthermore you will have enemies for life if you take an outpost away from a small guild.

My recommendations is to find another spot. There are several places still out there that I am kicking myself for not taking advantage of when I placed my own city. Go explore.

Have to agree with this. I found out last night we'd wrecked someones plans by mistake by placing our city pretty much exactly where they intended too. Rather than make a fuss they went off and found themselves a new spot. Chatting with one of the guys from that city last night was most pleasent and chances are we'll help each other out from time to time. Much better than barging in on someone. The other alternative is to have a chat with the other city and investigate the possibility of working together. By leaving them as mayor your saving yourself the skill points but maybe arranging a council U can inflluence the city and possibly reach a larger size sooner etc.

Well, I'm not positive, but I think that the cap has been reached... So we might not be able to even place our own city... Is there any way to check without actually trying to place?

it might be a good Idea to just move into the city. Unless, of coarse your deadset against being mayor, which by no means is an easy task.

no way to check.. no way to tell...

you can guess by looking how many city declare.. or via how many mission terminals are placed (in different location) since most cities would get those first.. usually..
