Thread: Advancement vs Rank requirements

From the FAQ:

(Level1; 10 citizens, 150m)
Pop. Req. for Advancement: 15
...
(Level 2; 20 citizens, 200m)

What is "advancement" that is hit at 15 citizens?
Does this imply the city radius expands, but the rank does not go up until there are 20 citizens registered?
Or is this the required level to be able to place enhancements to your city or something?

FAQ is wrong. "Advancement" is the city growing in rank, and from Rank 1 to Rank 2, the required number of citizens is 20.

This is probably left over from the old rank/citizen requirements ... they were 5-15-30-50-80 ... so the advancement for a rank 1 -> rank 2 would have happend at 15 citizens ... all these requirements were upgraded by 5 citizens

Indeed, the whole situation with rank, politician skill, and advancement smacks a bit of sloppy design. There are more elegant ways of doing things...we've had plenty of threads on that, though.

That being said, my advice to all new mayors is:

1) Find out what your city rank cap is.

2) Stuff that many citizens needed into your city (the total number to reach your artificially constrained maximum).

3) Ignore all talk of higher level stuff. You won't get it.
