Thread: None of our Top Five are bugfixes!
I have sat here all week in open-mouthed fascination at the "process" going on in this forum.
Folks have been coming in here in a constant stream, asking the same, easily faq-ed questions, and we have been ignoring them (complaint I received) or just answering and moving on and rinsing and repeating.
Further, cities are being hit, and being hit HARD with bugs all over the map. And we are not talking about bug fixes.
YES, gameplay is non-existent. YES, we need garages!
But the developers know that. And telling them that bug-fixes take a back seat to other issues is sending the wrong message.
Now, I wasn't going to get involved in this forum's messy politicssince I am in conversation with outside parties about Bajeezus' name, but I felt compelled this morning to weigh in and be helpful on the short term issues that are being swept under the rug.
If a developer had said they were aware and fixing them, fine, but we have not seen this.
Instead, I get one-starred for bringing up UI fixes and other issues, and we get a lot of back-slapping for fixes we would never see for months!
Now IS the time for discussing huge issues for the future of the profession, but now is NOT the time to be making these our top five!

Hi,
Bajeezus has asked people to comment on this suggestions, and it seems that most people agree and those that don't are making constructive comments about how those suggestions could be improved.
I'm not sure that your post really helps matters at all - the process that our correspondent is going through seems pretty goodto me and the majority of people seem to agree.
I personally feel totally happy with the way that the profession works, and I'm looking forward to reaching and keeping Master Politician soon as I have faith in the Devs, our Correspondent and our ability to iron out the wrinkles over time. I love being a mayor and think that it adds a great deal to the game.
Sorry, but I had to 1-star you as I think we need to focus our efforts on getting stuff done which our correspondent is best empowered to do.
Yours,

hear, hear. i'm just tired of hearing some people whine all the time. had to hit you too, dude.
I see bug-fixing, exploit-fixing, and other "hotfix" issues as immediate issues to be brought to the devs separately, ASAP, outside of what we are doing with the "top five". If you scan down through the posts from this week, alongside the "top-five" stuff, you'll see that I have made made thisforum aware ofrequests I have made on their behalf to the devs for better information and in-game feedbackon non-advancing cities, on getting a Bio-Engineer Trainer and SpynetOp on the list of placeable trainers, among other things.
The correspondent program, and the forums themselves, are not great avenues for communication about bugs and CSR issues. We can attempt to raise awareness.
The top-five issue program is a way for the entire politician forum community to be able to communicate its concerns, and to the extent that those concerns are not primarilybug and balance related, that is reflected in the list we've generated this last week.
If you or any other player would like to compile a list of bugs that you feel are not known issues, I'd be happy to forward them for a response.

Please have the CSRs and relevant Devs change their opinions then, as you will see many other professions use their top 5 to get immediate issues resolved and to the developers attention.
As exhibits A-C, I will try and dig up all the emails I have gotten from CSRs and one dev about how if I want a bug to be fixed, it goes to the correspondent TO BE PUT ON THE TOP 5!
Now I can't even work to get bugs fixed in my profession forum. Truly demoralizing.
Sheesh.

Compared to some other profs I've tried, Politician is relatively bug free.
Thats just because politicians really don't have any abilities to do anything yet

A few things here seem just downright disrespectful to your fellow politician forum posters and the Bajeezus our correspondent. I think to make your point you could have worded your post a bit better and lose the saracasm. This is hardlythe way to garner support for position.
Bugfixes are important yes, but your way of approaching what you see as a difficiency is completely wrong. Better yet would be to look at what Bajeezus has tried to do in addressing the Top 5 issues for the Politician profession. Maybe issues #4 and #5 aren't necessarily the most important. Maybe"Garages" should be dropped as I believe it is coming soon anyways. "Resignation" could be moved to issue #4, and a section for bugs could be created for issue #5 and listed. I think bugfixes are important to any profession but because of the very nature of bugs, they are potentially always going to be around and should really be addressed in their own way.
I think Bajeezus is doing an excellent job in soliciting for comments, suggestions and feedback in all areas of his work here.
Saying that you are in"conversation with outside parties about Bajeezus' name" is just spiteful and sad really. I had to 1 star you as well, because I just don't appreciate your approach in this matter at all.
Riis,
You really need to just deal with the fact that Baj is the correspondent and not you. Ever since he was announced all you've done is carry on about him and the "horrible" job he's doing (in your mind). You're not being constructive at all, you're just being a nuisance.
I think the effort put forth by the Corrospondent is effective. He's rounded up the community and led the discussions, trying to keep them focused and on track. He's chosen an effective method of doing this: discuss, submit, approve. So far, he seems unbiased in his presentations, leaving his personal preferences to a back seat (though he does interject from time to time his opinion, I think he does so to keep the threads on target or to raise another important issue the community had not thought of).
I am in agreement however, that a statement from the Devs regarding bug fixes should be sought after, with at the very least a "we are aware and working on a fix" remark.
Riis Im one-staring you because you wont stop your bible-thumping crap about Baj's name....Get over it already.
It pretty obvious that your upset about something....Did you want to be the coorespondent and was turned down??? If so, Im glad you were.
The top-five should not include bug fixes. If there is a bug then these need to be dealt with seperately. A bug is a problem with the game and the DEV's need to know about them asap. They fixed the drifting cities and now the election problem. Those were bugs.

Whatever they may have told you at the time, just look at it for yourself to see whether the "top-five" is an effective way to get real-time information about bugs to the devs. Where is the response to the first top-five completed here with Plinka? There you had a #1 priority on the planet cap, an issue which doesn't even arise at all on the current top issues list by this community.
The top-five is a long term process by definition. We post our concerns and gather them, Thunderheart collects them and turns them over to the developers for comment, they come back for clarification or comment by us, the whole thing is weeksin the doing.

You can't emphasize one thing and ignore another. Igave examples of issues that I have brought to the correspondent's forum and PM'd the Devs with just this week. This is one avenue for a kind of communication with the devs. They have a bug reporting system in place, and that is the system they use for dealing with bugs on a day to day basis. It is not by any means the primary purpose of these forums or the correspondent program, although this can be in some cases a good way of raising the awareness of a problem or getting a priority increased or at least in getting feedback about a bug's status out to the community. Don't ignore my offer to forward whatever bugs you believe are not known issues to the devs via the correspondent forum. You can work through this forum for that. I just wanted to set proper expectations and explain some of the limitations of this avenue of communication.
