Our guild, Skull and Bones, has three player cities. The largest is a metropolis with 104 citizens. Recently our mayor has been seen less and less ingame. Last week, one ofthe guild officers trained in novice politician to attempt to regain control of our city, and I am happy to report that he succeeded! In one week, we were able to get him a majority victory!
So don't give up hope. I have read several people's concerns about changing mayors or a mayoral resignation system. If you marshall your voters, you will get results.
(Im sure it helped, too, that we never did a cross galaxy lot swap in any of our cities)

I had no problem with my election either, but since TC allows more than 1 char I got a lot of alt votes... so it only took me 1 week, and I got more than majority vote. it's always nice to hear another success story

It took me 2 weeks of running to take over for our previous (retiring) mayor. Lots of emails to everyone in the city (yes, the friends-list is your friend too), and just good ole fashioned vigilance and catching people, begging them to vote. I managed to get 2 more votes than necessary in those 2 weeks and got into office.

Congrat.....
It didn't take me 2 weeks but about 2 months....but it was well worth it.
The reason it was a bit more difficult and longer for me was because when the old mayor left - almost half the population also went (starting new cities on Tat and Lok or going to UO or FF). So, it was a mess for a bit just trying to know who actually remained.
I am also TOTALLY AGAINST city padding and cross server lot swappings.

Well there are good stories out there, mine is too it took just a week and I managed to get just 1 extra vote but it was right down to the line.
I did have a lot of help though as half the city wanted a change and so with there help it was done.
