I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I beleive that by placing a city hall the land within its SOI (Sphere of Influence, or radius) should be flattened so that all the land within is buildable. This would make it much easier to find city locations as most of the land on advanced and elite planets is unusable due to hills / rocks / etc... What do you guys think?

dont know.... on one end, it would be great to flatten out some of the ditches, but on the other, imagine going up into a mountain range and finding a spot to place the city hall... all of that mountain would be instantly raised up deforming that area.

Half of my city (when we reach city) will be on the plains of Corellia and the other half atop a Plateau. I love that fact and it's the reason that we chose that spot even though it's hell getting 20 people to fit. Now I wouldnt mind filling in a few of the gaping pits in the plateau portion but I chose the spot and will live with it. Now if they allowed the option to level terrain out via placing those little squares of pavement some months down the line I'd be quite happy but I dont want to see 20 gouges in the land just so we can make things easier.

Ok, let me go into more detail... First of all you wouldn't be able to just terraform anywhere (like mountains, duh). Second of all... it wouldn't be done automatically. The mayor would be able to "mold" the land with 3 simple tools in the building placement screen.

1. Flattening Tool... Click once in the ground level you wish to change the level of higher ground to and drag the cursor to flatten / remove obstructions.

2. Sink Ground Tool... Sink the ground (maybe be able to sink it far enough to get a river / lake going? Who knows =p)

3. Raise Ground Tool... Raise the ground to make plateaus or whatever.

Well it's a rough idea that needs some work =p hehe

Yes, I agree. Itssad, we can destroy a small planet, but we cant get rid of a few pesky rocks in our cty!...lol

I'm not too sure of the idea, in some instances prehaps the leveling of ground would be much welcomed, but player cities need character, and one tool for giving cities their unique feelings besides their civil and puplic structure placing is the terrain around them.

As for the flattening tools, raising ground tools, and skinking tools, which altough may sound like an idea solution, i dont know what the server implications of changing the existing planet would do to the game.

Well I like the flattening land tool, however making pits and raising hills seem a bit extreme. If you wanted a plateau there are a few spots on Corellia (one of which is my city) that you could have chosen, same goes for lakes. Now big pits or even just small ones that prevent structures barely seem like a good idea to be able to alter a little.

My thoughts on this are that to be able to make to many changes to the landwould take from the challenge of building your city on the land you have chosen. Our city is on a very narrow peninsula on Naboo. At least 50% of it is water tiles so let me tell ya it's cramped but we manage. The one nice thing would be that shovel . There is this one growth of bamboo right in the middle of main street that is just screwing up our speeder races. Commandos have burned, swordsmen cut, and not even a jedi can take it out with their lightsaber I mean come on that is some tough bamboo. So all humor aside yes a tool to move things like bamboo, rocks or other small items would be very beneficial I believe.

I think terraforming is not a good idea. Removing shrubbery would be nice, and ability to make, like planting a row of tres or something like that.

I'd rather see steps, paved streets/tiles, and bridges as civic structures before the ability to terraform.

I agree, complete terraforming isn't necesarry, but I'd like to see the following implemented:

- Shovels: I want to fill those annoynig ditches that riddles most of the Corellian landscape.
- "Loose" Objects: Cutting down trees, moving rocks etc.
- Relax placement restrictions further - would enable cities placed in more exciting terrain.
- Relax harvester placement restrictions too - with the amount flat areas taken by cities, miners are having a difficult time.
