last week in politics

things actually happened this week as most of you know patch 10 hit TC, and I've been logging on extra... not to try out all the new jedi stuff (I don't like that kind of crowd), but to keep the peace around NU and maybe help out a little. just like the other patches, we get an extra rush of people into the city. unfortunately, not all of them behave themselves, and quite a few ended onto the ban list. some people didn't notice tht it's not coronet, and that we have rules... oh well. they can do whatever they want on TC, just not in NU

other than that, things in NU are generally happy. there was a friend that decided to try out TC, so I spent some time touring NU with him and some other folks. commerse seems ok.. although I think we're constantly out of speeders because of the flood of new people. I am considering reinstating sales tax, but probably not until after the sales tax bug is fixed (I'm still bugging the devs on it, and if you have this bug please follow these instructions.) I haven't checked the treasury recently, but it should last us a while. we've kept the artisan tent and didn't redeed it so we can test out the new vendor removal after 14 days. I haven't received major complains from my citizen yet on the new vendor cap, lets hope they change the numbers to something more reasonable

I got my new mayoral AV-21, courtesy of LuapLink, one of my trusted militia members and good friend I've also been getting tons of new clothes... mmm I've also been posting more and bumping (which I don't usually do and don't like people doing) on the sales tax bug issue, so hopefully I can get some sort of response soon. there really isn't much on the plate for politician I've been over helping the CMs/merchants/ents, since I have masters in these professions and they're having discussions with major issues.

last but not least: I'm going to be out of town this week starting wednesday (8/11), and will be back next monday.(8/16) I'm gonna go meet up with a friend I haven't seen in 11 years, and I'll have no internet access. I've asked Texxie (Vortexala), Laeren and various other people to watch over this forum for me while I'm gone. don't start any riots, or I'll have some spanking to do when I get back... hrm, come to think of it, nevermind on the spanking... you guys might like it please be nice to Texxie though, he has my permission to poison the forum if necessary

so how was your city this week?

edit: since I won't be here, happy early birthday Laeren

Dear Pappi:

Ooh, the power

Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

This weekend I finally got the ability to place skill trainers and manage militia. Still haven't gotten to the ability to place large gardens, but I did put in some medium gardens in the middle of our commercial district to make a nice area for people to get missions, train, etc. Hopefully, this draws more attention to our cantinas and commercial area, as well as being very convenient for people shuttling in and grabbing missions.

We're still hovering around 75 citizens, with 60ish being active over the course of the past week. Good numbers, but could be better, so we're going to kick recruiting up a notch, in the hopes of getting more RP guilds or PA's who want a good place to settle down (no GCW fighting in-town please).

Our cityis now a donation + income-tax only format, as that will help our vendors keep prices down. Our current maint per week is about 600k, which is a lot, but that's what you get when you put a city's decorations in the hands of an interior (now exterior too) designer

The Merchant change is what was the big buzz this weekend. Our city chat was filled with arguments pro and con (with a majority going with the con side). Personally, I'm in the middle - yes it might make things difficult, but I'm confident that there will be a middle-ground found in the changes.

Good luck fellow cityfolk!

New Kabala, Lok, Lowca.

Well, not a whole lot happened in town this week.

We gained one new citizen, then lost 1. The gained one was a current citizen's ALT, which he then canceled that second account, so he moved out of town. leaving our current citizenship at 16 citizens.

I gained 2 skill boxes (but could only use one at this time.) I now have the ability to register our city (once we have enough citizens). I can also place trainers. New Kabala now hasa Brawler Trainer, a Pistoleer Trainer, and another one (i can't remember which one).

The city museum is coming along nicely. i completed the Blue Rug this week, so now i have 1 crafted loot kit item on display. all i need are the ever ellusive adhesives, and i can craft all the rest of the items. as soon as i get these items crafted, i will finish decorating the museum and open it up to the public, as well as advertise it, and hold a player event for it's grand opening.

Pappi, congrats on the AV-21, i've had mine for about a month now, and i love it.

Dohrian on Talus (Gorath)

had a few things go wrong this week. First the good.

We got back our lvl 4 status and the addition of some new citizens (and some old guild members finally moving in). But during tax time I got a message stating we didn't have enough in our treasury and as such we lost all our decorations and our buildings all got damaged.

I had calculated enough maintenance for another 2 to 3 weeks but somehow things went bad. I posted about the whole thing in another thread so you can read full details there.

On another bad note. Our Friday night party at The Crazy Roba was dulled by a patrol of stormies doing a scan on our patrons for suspected rebels and criminals.
This created a lot of problems for me and dealing with the empire creates many headaches. They even found our rebel terminal which I of course made some lie about and they bought it. Now I'm just going to have to find another place to hide it

But all in all it was a regular week in Dohrian.

Farpoint - Roleplay Metropolis

Current Population: 93

I disbanded the city council last week and decided to overrule anone in the city by setting up a senate that is helping me with organizing all the city situations. Since we have the attitude to be a roleplay only city we have different problems enforcing our rules.

For that we have found a Senator building up a law system and enforcing it, also every base professio senator will take care of profession related problems. One senator is for housing and one for community relations, makes it easier for me to concentrate on my role. We are planning various new things that will enhance and diversify the roleplay experiences in our city. So far it concentrates too much on our cantina.

The city information tent we built up with the city rules inside has proven to be very effective. After we told people to read the rules and live by them, they seem to be better informed than before. Though, theres always some wannabees that destroy a real roleplay setting. *sigh* I wish citywarn was back in action...

Overall, the finances are great now. We got many donations (i named streets after the donators) of many millions each and also have set up a fair tax setup that everyone lives with.

Most activities will go into the Federation Festivel: Destination Farpoint that will b eheld next week. We are organizing different shows and even a historical fight-theatre play that shall show the day when Drifters Oasis was destroyed and Farpoint was born.

I look forward to see things happen and see you around

-- This week in Aurora --

General News:

Aurora is the great Rebel metropolis on Naboo. Though the planet is overrun with Imperially aligned players, Aurora remains a sanctuary for the Rebel community on Naboo. This week Yabu and Obeci assumed thier roles as Deputy Mayors of Aurora.

The Metropolis of Aurora continues to grow and flourish. Many new citizens have moved here to become members of this great city. The local player associations are recruiting new members to aid in the fight against the Empire.

Aurora recently placed another Outpost it was invaded the very next night. The invading forces had no idea what they were marching into. Assembled around the base were a group of Rebels from many different guilds and cities. BOTD,SPT,V,E-Den,MES if I missed anyone I am sorry. The Imperials advanced down the corridor only to be met by the band of Rebels. The struggle lasted for what seemed to be hours, when all at once the Imperials retreated . We had held our ground and there was much rejoicing that day in Aurora.

The Mayor is back from his business trip. Welcome him home as he was sorely missed.

City Mall and Merchants:

The new tax strucutre in Aurora has brought a zero sales tax to town. This mean lower prices on every item on the vendors in Aurora. Rebel Yell Combat Arms has finally returned from its hiatus and is rapidly stocking its weapons vendors.

The Aurora mall offers high quality products, at low prices and is only a 1 minute ride from Moenia, or a quick shuttle trip through the Aurora Shuttle port. The vendors are restocked every few days and the city is seeing a steady stream of customers to our citizen's vendors. With such great vendors asJor'ans Resources,Boceifus's weapons, Woseu's Armor, Cuk's Food, Ackac's Droids, Hadrian's Deeds and Furniture, Agoln's Meds, Yhaigs Clothing, and all the numerous miscellaneous vendors, Aurora is able to offer high quality goods and products at low prices. The mall is on the western edge of town and is currently undergoing some redecorating efforts as we refine our look and feel to better suit the shopping needs of our customers.

City Finances:

With the new tax structure in place the city is earning approximately 50,000 credits per day. That is insufficient and the mayor is going to support the city personally until he can get more donations. Aurora currently runs a 700k/week maintenance fee. This is reduced to 500k/week if the gardens are removed. With more sponsored gardens appearing in the city the finances are improving dramatically. At 50,000 credits per day the city only earns 350,000 credits. While that is a lot of money, it is still 150,000 less than our minimum maintenance cost. We need more sponsored gardens , by sponsoring a garden it helps the city with it's finances .

City Governance:

The appointing of Ambassadors is still being discussed as it strengthen our ties with our allies. Citizen's who may be inteested are urged to contact the Mayor, or the Deputy Mayors.

The PA, Bringers of the Dawn, recently assembled a new Military Activity Council. This council is charged with the coordination of the millitary efforts originating from the BOTD membership. New Bases are being placed and the GCW is heating up in Aurora.

The Mayor continues to evaluate the city, and find ways to make it even more appealing. A city restructuring plan is in trhe works and will assist in cleaning up the city after the last few months of explosive growth.

City Event Guide:

Finally, several guilds are continuing to run weekly hunts out of Aurora. BOTD and E-Den have standard hunting nights and all folks are welcome to join them.Check out the discussion groups at www.swgbotd.com and www.enforcers-guild.com

That is about all that is happening this weekin our great community.

From the scripture of the Atoned...

It did come to pass that the city of Atonement Valley on the planet of Lok from the server of Kettemoor was in dire need of a renewal.

The mayor decreed houses to be torn asunder and fresh buildings to be in their place.

And the lines became straighter, and there was much rejoicing throughout the gathered citizenary.

Resting not on his laurels the chosen mayor then set about adding to the appeal of the symmetry with sanctified lighting, gardens of salvation and monuments in tribute of the Fallen Atoned. And there was much rejoicing throughout the gathered citizenary.

Completing his work the chosen mayor announced the final completion of the associate Holopage for the city which did both swirl and rumble in a manner pleasing to the sacred visitor, and there was much rejoicing throughout the gathered citizenary.

The chosen mayor rested. It had been a most busy week.
