ok not a polotition here, but ran a PA for a while that had a player city.

I think player cities as they currently stand are not so good for the game. They are taking people away from the established cities and turning them into gost towns, if player starports where more prevelent then maybe this would not be a problem. But there not so I thought of an idea, and I would like your input.

Server cities currently have a 1k no build zone, no what if that where turned around, make it so you could build in those zones, then depending on the size of that city brake up the zone into disticts the larger cities having say 6 and the smaller cities maybe just one or two.

Then the polotions would conduct buisness as usual, and as districts grow so do there boundries. This would help keep the current cities viable economic and social bases, and make them less deserted.

Also this could add a new aspect for polotitions. Much like the voting for polotitions have a monthly vote, where only the polotitions can vote, this would set taxes for the entire city, and determain what the city wil be I.E. resorce center etc. It could add an actual plotitcal aspect to the game, dont like what your polotition is doing for the city, then vote him out. etc. Just came up with this so is kinda ruff but let me know, also, sorry for any miss spelled words.

Umm...you are playing the same game the rest of us are playing are you not?

Most NPC cities have been barren since the start of the game, and of the ones that are busy (Coro, Theed & Bestine), most are used primarily as transit points.

Player Cities are here to stay and people live in them for a reason. Sorry if you don't like it but you will just have to live with it

Oh and its spelt "Politicans" - dunno what aPolotition does (adjudicates at Polo matchs I assume).

Player Cities is an added PLUS to the game.

- gives content, community and friendship to players

- helps newbie player into the game (providing them with the basics and a friendly, helpfully community)

- help keep current players involved and belong (older players can assume roles such as Guild Leaders, City Council and planner or Militia)

My list can go on and on.

I agree with everything StumanKadir says.....especially the part about the spelling...

Don't forget the city specializations such as job marketand Medical Center to help players get more money for missions and better healing. And also player cities make it much easier to get to certain areas. Lok is a great example, it only has one space port but the player cities help make traveling further south in the planet alot easier.

Good points, though I do disagree with the comment about always being deserted, before player cites they where not deserted.

OK good points about the benefits, but if the player cities are going to be away from the main transportation hubs (i.e. starports) then they need to be able to place starport. which from what I understand is not available. Please correct me if I am wrong on that, have not checked up on it for a while but the last couple posts I read up on said they still where not available.

Mainly what I am getting at is trying to have more than one place to go i.e. cornet, it is one of the few reliable places where you can find pretty much anything you need.

I ahve nothing against player cites, just wondering about ways to make cities, player or NPC more viable.

I appologies for my poor spelling, english has always been my worst subject. I do try to catch errors and correct them, but some times I don't.

Most people point out others errors due to low self esteem, think about that. Also I get strait A's in math with out hardly trying, including Calculus, oh and that is college level, not HS. So next time you feel you HAVE to make fun of someones spelling (yes I know it is a pet pev for some people) ask your self if you are perfect in every way, if you are then feel free, untill then give the rest of use humans, withour flaws, a break.

Haha...I completely disagree with your viewpoint on player cities. However, your final paragraph: /cheer

Vinjar why do you disagree? Maybe I am not doing something right hehe. I go to cornet to slice because it is a reliable sorce of traffic. But when there are three or four people there doing the same thing, I would rather go some place else, but most player cities have sporattic trafic at best. I am actualy looking forward to the stale char whipe for this reason, hopefully it will reduce the amount of ghost towns out there.

Back to my original post, what about the polotitians voting on things, perhaps that have planet wide effect. That is what I really liked about my original idea, if you had 2-6 poloticians in one area that had to vote to come up with things like making the city a research center, I think it would make poloticians more like poloticans and less like city planners.

It was just an Idea I came up with while talking with someone in game, just wanted to run it by you, the experts.

I normally don't come down on people for spelling, but what the hell is a "polotition"? Good grief, it's politician... the word is proudly displayed at the top of the board, how hard is it to cut and paste? Don't give a bad name to all the rest of the smugllirs and coomendoes.

Player cities are not ruining the game. As a smuggler, I would think you would be extatcic that you can go to one major starport to ply your trade. Player cities are fun. The problem with politicians voting to create planetary changes will have to do with coding and programming issues which I can't begin to understand. Getting people vote is like pulling teeth. Doing it on a planetary scale would be more difficult than getting a Jedi not to use FR3. We appreciate your viewpoint on this. It does make sense in some ways but, unfortunetly, not very viable.

For the losers flaming is spelling: So what? Unbelievable. Despite the fact that the word is on top of the forum does not mean that you should act like a bunch of buttcakes to a visitor on the forum. I'm sure his impression of the politician class is really great now.

Get over yourself. I said I don't normally call people on spelling, but the level to which he butchered the word was egregious and deserved mention. You would think that if someone is going to come into this board and ask questions or comment, they could at least bother to spell the name of the profession properly.

Get over myself? I'm not the one hammering someone because of a mistake. The sole purpose of your previous post was to put down the way he misspelled a word. It hads nothing to do with the topic. Sounds a lot like trolling to me. In fact, I hear three billy goats a comin'. Maybe you should get back to work.
