Thread: What am I doing wrong?! Post Patch Depression!
Some of them have done. They respect the work you've done for them and are willing to make the effort. Others probably don't care so much, or aren't familiar enough with the system to realise that their votes are now the only means for you to progress. Or they were away from the city when they got the email and forgot about it by the time they came back. Or they haven't logged on recently. It's a shame you can't reward those who did vote (and bribe those who haven't) but of course the election is anonymous so that wouldn't be possible.
The one thing I would say is don't pay for the city out of your own pocket. The more that people are contributing to the city together, making it come alive together, the more likely they are to put themselves out to help you as they care about the city and it's mayor.
Having said that, you have had a pretty good turn out considering the number of citizens

Getting over the frustration of not mastering politician which I would have on the pre-patch, I am now trying to get all my citizens to vote so i can get the same amount of xp I would have previously over the 3 week period.
Since the patch, I have emailed all citizens with a really nice email asking for their help by voting and thus being a more effective Mayor for their needs but only 20 out of 66 people have voted.
Before I ask the title question again for a reply, a brief description of the City and what I have done and contribute.
1) NO TAXES! Of any kind, I pay 420K to keep it up and running and NEVER ask for contributions.
2) City has the mod cons like; Shuttle, Garage, Cloning, Bank, NPC Trainers, Mission Terminals, a Hospital, Cantinas, a Mall, Large Gardens and free placement of Street Lamps, allowing to limit, on players footstep.
3) Due to restrictions on allowed NPC's, email sent out so citizens can vote for what they want and the top 12 placed.
4) Allow multiple houses per citizen if they require extra for storage.
5) City registered and a Medical Specialization. Asked if anyone wanted to be any different but never had a reply.
So, what am I doing wrong? I dont expect thanks or appreciation, I do it because I wanted to now wonder is it really worth it and the skill points I really need to do other professions.
Any suggestions on how I can better myself as a Mayor and encourage citizens to vote would be very much appreciated.
Many Thanks...
As the mayor of a city since day one you will find that a large % of people living in your city don't care about your city. Most of the time all they care about is a shuttle port trainers and a clone center..
They would alos care if you charged taxes.. im sure if you uped taxes you would get some nice responses ![]()
Most of the people playing this game only care about there own personal wealth and the skilling of there toon... asking people to vote for you is nothing more then a pain for the people of your city....and just like your city my city of 70 i had 22 vote for me so far as well with 2 mails sent already...other posters nailed it streight...if your city has everything people dont see the need to vote...and also about 99% of the people that play this game don't even know houw you get exp in the first place...some people think you go out and kill NPC's for exp like the rest of us lol...
Trying to get most people to vote is like pulling teeth...as they have to take time out of there game time to do somthing that does nothing for them at all.
Since the last change of rules...I have been thinking alot latly about wether or not being a mayor is even worth it at all....It's a hassle to get people to vote..people complain about taxes all the time even if its like $3000 a week which anyone can make in 10 minutes or less. I alwase have to dump my own money into the city..or ask people to donate money...I use up large amounts of skill points so that i can make a change once a month or so...(well more so for trainers with i change on a weekly basis) but other then that all in all...Being mayor used to be fun but its losing its luster now,,,as the new patch made more work for mayors and has not gave them any benifits.
I know have to watch out more now for hostal takeovers.. I have to BUG everyone for my EXP and the costs to run citys are no different then before....(to expensive for what its worth)....I don't know how much longer ill be willing to grind out 450k+ $$$$ every week any more, just so that other people can usea shuttle port!!!! (as that is the only major + to a city)

So if they haven't paid for it, they won't care if it's broken as much as if they have put in a lot of their own time or money.
2) City has the mod cons like; Shuttle, Garage, Cloning, Bank, NPC Trainers, Mission Terminals, a Hospital, Cantinas, a Mall, Large Gardens and free placement of Street Lamps, allowing to limit, on players footstep.
So if the city already has everything there's no need to put in more work - or so many lazy players might think
3) Due to restrictions on allowed NPC's, email sent out so citizens can vote for what they want and the top 12 placed.
More XP can't really help you here, can it?
4) Allow multiple houses per citizen if they require extra for storage.
Not really special for me - should be a standard
5) City registered and a Medical Specialization. Asked if anyone wanted to be any different but never had a reply.
Again ... if your city is already providing everything, why vote?

My only suggestion would be to try and get all your 60 citizens to regularly and activly take part in city activities. Do small but fun events (large events don't really bring much more attention, but cost much more effort), have regular and unregular RP parties, do some "city-hunting" for non-RP'lers ... and give several citizens some kind of organisation job so they really have to activly help out with their own free time ... this way they will deffinatly get an attachment to the city because it's their own sweat in it ...
... but I have to add that this is really hard to do, and even harder to maintain
