Hi I have access to our Mayor account which is also a merchant account. Recently I placed a couple vendors within the city limits of another player city. The real mayor is afraid that by doing this it will open our city up to takeover by the guild of the city the vendors are in.
His theory is this. The other city's mayor runs for our next election. His city members, which is a much bigger city than ours, all come and vote and take over our city.
This doesn't make any sense to me but thats why I am posting.
I didn't declare residency in the other city with Mayor.
Is he right about this?

technically the other city's mayor should not be able to run for mayor in another city. besides, if you have zoning on, this shouldn't be a problem (unless they place houses outside the city and wait for update, or if they use exploits.)
besides, why would the other city come take over unless you guys really pissed them off?

Ok now he also mentioned something about "If the mayor places vendors outside city limits it has a demoralizing effect."
Know anything about this?

uh, I guess that would depend on the morale of your city? morale is pretty subjective...

Is Moral an actual stat or is he just talking about players morale?

there's no in game measure of morale of a city, so I'm sure he's just talking about player morale in general.

Your mayor is very confused. Only registered citizens of a town can run for Mayor, or vote for Mayor. This has nothing to do with who places vendors where. Vendors don't equal residency. He or she should prolly read up on politican quite a bit. The only way this guild could "take over" your town would be if someone in your town granted zoning rights to a bunch of peeps from this other guild and they all built houses and declared residncy there, then one of them ran for mayor and they all voted for him. Possible but very unlikely and having nothing to do with vendors. Tell your mayor to stop worrying and start reading up on player cities!

Also about the moral thing... what balderdash (hehe love a chance to use that word). Perhaps he just doesn't really want you using his acct to place a vendor for some purely personal reason?

Sorry its a couple days late but I dont think that the case. He told me I could move shop out of city boundaries and keep one vendor there.
I just don't want to do anything that could compromise our city.
Thanks for the info guys.
