How about starting a planetary council? In order to join all you would need to do is be a politician.

The council would have an email address that would go to all politiains on the planet. And whenever 5 polititicians were in the capital building of the planet, the council would go into session and everyone there would be awardedexperience points over time. The amount could be scaled by many things, number of politicians, number of non-politicians (voters), etc.

And of course the same could be done for an interplanetary (galactic?) council. But you would need members from at least three worlds to convence as session.

good idea, but how would you prevent this from being exploited. as in, five politicians meet at the capitol building, set up nice macros, and then all five go to bed for the night

What would the politicians do while there? Entertainers have actions they do to get their experience, and it is beneficial to others. Medicals obviously benefit others by healing in order to get their experience, plus they use resources. Politicians need to be doing something to get their experience. Since getting votes can be a lot of work, that is deserving of the experience. I still think everyone should physically cast their vote in order for that candidate to get their experience, but that isn't in effect.

What actions could politicians do in this "council" you describe? Anyone have any ideas?

Actually with the way some things are done this would be no different than grinding any other profession. How many times have you seen dancers or musicians working in the cantinas?

But I agree that if there were some 'constructive' things that could be done that would be good. I think it is up to the player base to come up with these and of course the developers to buy into them.

Why? XP given on a weekly basis is fine. Sheesh... Cities are already growing way too fast anyhow.... too many power gamers on SWG.... CCG is a good Power Gaming Platform..... SOE should be finding ways to make ALL Skill Trees more difficult to advance... not easier... Become Master Bounty Hunter in 3 Weeks! LMAO! Not in the least bit realistic... not even .00089% realistic....

Its a Week... not a decade

I agree BigGuy, in that there is no reason to have more ways to get experience. The number of politicians in the game currently is much more than will ever be needed and I don't see much if any changing of mayors in order for experienced politicians to be in demand. Most cities want to have the best person for the job, so they give one person all the votes and experience. It's all a power-gamer attitude to have the best as fast as possible for everyone. I think they made political experience too easy to hand out, especially for huge guilds where no one ever changes their votes. Politicians need something else to do WITH their experience, not to GET their experience.

If they add the idea of council members as the group that has grant zoning rights and require it to have politician, I believe you will see more politicians. At least at the novice level.

Politician has the possibility of contributing to the GCW. But we need some reason (and way) for the different player cities to interact.

I think it would be fun if NPCs spawned in our cities. Possibly even quest granting NPCs. I know that the game is taking player cities into account because I was inspecting our Cantina when a new player came in and started dance. Since I had some mind wounds and battle fatigue I started watching and tipped her. We chatted for a few minutes and she told me she had taken an entertainer mission and it had given her a waypoint to our cantina and told her to go there and dance. Now the fact that my tip was more than the mission payout was just gravy, but I am glad to see that the game system is encouraging people to visit the player cities.

The problem Chew is that you are basically saying we should have a million Master Politicians that can place NPCs??? Why not just make it more interesting by making XP more difficult to get. Those after week 1 not EVERY PC is a VIllage with Canitna ... after Week 2 EVERY Village a Town with Cloning Center.... They should make the buildings specialties not givens, which they have become... too many "hand-outs" already in SWG... SWG is should be a challenge not a given

No I am not suggesting that Politians should be able to place NPCs (other than skill trainers, and I will not be placing any of those, due to cost).

I just think part of player cities should include NPCs migrating there.

And our village did not have a cantina after week one. We barely had the population to grow and none ofmy citizens wereable to placea cantina. And I really do not have a problem with cantina the early stage of a city. Historically most crossroads that developed into cities started with an inn or tavern, the equivelent of a cantina.

And as far as mastering Politician, I probably will not, because I also enjoying hunting, both alone and with guildmates. And I do not have enough skill points available to master Politician and have good enough levels to go hunting.

I would just like to see Politicians do more than manage their cities. Part of politics is the interaction of different groups (read player cities) not just the interaction with a select group.
