I want to lose the election, but i can't because even though i have asked people to vote for the opponent, they are too lazy to do so. Can i resign using /transferStructure? I am about to try it I think.

Nope, you get it back after the downtime or the next election, whichever comes first. I'd say send em a mail every day that you are still leading the election. Bug em until they finally vote you out. If that doesn't work, start taking money out of the treasury. (You can put it right back in but everyone gets a mail you took it out) and they'll start getting worried about losing their city so will vote you out. Of course, they might also kick you out completely with that method so maybe not...
