Thread: One year celebration = Old griefing renewed

So, much turbulation came with the 1 year celebration of Lokian Abyss, Lok. Among this was the splitting of the main guild that had back it. This lead to the spiting of a mayor who was a great helper of the community. The mayor then informed us that he was quitting SWG and leaving for good. This lead us to scramble to replace him and find a new mayor, which we did, in an alt of someone because politician is still imo one of the most awfully thrown in professions, and I am a former master. The social reward of politician is great, but as you all know with great power comes greater responsibility.

As of today, I was informed that the former mayor of Lokian Abyss, Lok on Starsider not only decided to leave the game but also decided to delete his char before cancelling his account. So after a year of greatness, a year of prosperity, a year of beauty. POOF everything is gone. How the might have fallen, Lokian Abyss, Lok was at one time in the last year in the top five largest cities on Starsider with over 100 citizens. Now, we don't even have a city hall.

This griefing tactic was of much concern early on when cities had bad mayors, but I still can't believe that something was not implemented over the last full year to stop this from happening.

Sucky.

Contact the CSRs, they might help you out.

They've been known to (sometimes)be sympathetic on occasions like this.

Good luck!

I can't say much more right now

The damage has already been done, the character is gone without much notice at all. No one thought he was going to delete it, just cancel the account. Alas, we attempt to make the best of the situation. This week in Lokian Abyss, Lok click for news in regards to this situation.

Yep you couldn't have said it better. To summarize what the CSRs have stated...

If the person that was mayor deleted his characted then the game acted as designed by deleting all the items associated with this character. If this person did cancel his account and he did delete his character, then there really isn't much we can do for you.

So basically... Yeah suck it up, we know we have this gaping hole in our system, but we don't care to much to fix it over the whole year its been their. How about leaving cities for atleast 7 days without a mayor? If after that seven days no mayor runs then its deleted. What a simple concept.

To summarize our losses...

15+ gardens
20+ fountains/statues
Countless streetlamps
Shuttle
Bank
Garage
City Hall

Did I get it all? Probably not, oh well. OH YEAH

7 million credits in the treasury.

Yeah this is a great system, poorly implemented. And a wonderful money sink since it will take probably close to 25 million credits to get all that crap back.

unfortunately, I've been told that CSRs can't do anything *after* the city has been deleted. they can help some before the city is destroyed though.

Once again I thank you for the help. Seeing as the devs/csrs can't or won't seem to fix this issue, I am very happy about the Starsider community coming together to help us out.

Oh and I made your URL a clicky .

OK, as a 2nd generation Mayor, this kinda scares me a little. Now, granted that I have yet to sleep since working lastnight I may be misunderstanding this.

Whena player deletes his character, if he had a player city, it goes away. I can follow this but does this still happen if he's not the mayor?

If the Dev's ever get off thier asses and do a purge, would this be the same as deletion?

I'm hoping I'm reading this wrong but as it sounds to me, if our old mayor ever get's deleted even though I'm the mayor now, Alacio Island will go with him. Please, please tell me this isn't the case. If it is, man oh man do I have a blowtorch ready for the Dev's on this one...

It isn't the case. When a character gets deleted all of his homes, factories/other lot intensive things, items, credits, that cute little jax, his bio, everything attached to him goes with him. A mayor's home is the city hall ergo when he deletes his character city hall gets deleted with him. If he isn't the mayor then the only thing that will be deleted is his lot structures/homes, and everything else just like any other citizen in your town or random player elsewhere in the galaxy.

I herewith offer my assistance for the people of Lokian Abyss. I have some spare gardens and structures you might find useful. Also I would gladly help advise if need be.
