Thread: mayor problem solved! thanks CSRs!

I'm one of the founders of Numanjii city, on Naboo Ahazi. We are one of the first metropolis on our server and have maintained that status all this time. We have 110 citizens and many people who simply use our city facilities.

Our problem now is one that has seemingly been ignored by the devs. Our current mayor is quitting SWG and for the last 3 weeks we have tried to get a new mayor (myself) voted into office, but since all non-votes go to the incumbant, I have been unable to get more than a third of the votes before the election recycles. We DO NOT support "ghost" citizens just to keep our numbers up, but many of our citizens don't play very much any more.

Our problem is if our current mayor's account goes dead, we may loose our city. Since cities are maxxed out we may not be able to place a new hall if this one falls, and even if we did, we would most likely not get our metropolis status back.

This SHOULD be a simple matter of allowing a current mayor to remove his name from the ballot IF there is someone running against him.

Please help! This situation is becoming critcal, as the current mayor's account will close soon. Both current mayor and future mayor can be available to meet CSRs in game if needed.

You have all of our sympathies because most of us that post here are facing the same issue.

The bad news: The Dev's and CSR's will NOT get involved, they will refuse to change the mayor position, regardless.

The worse news: They said at the convention that since so few people actually are in this Profession, that it will not get any "attention" (fixes).

The worst of all the news: You're screwed, the Dev's dont care and won't respond to your questions about it. Unless you go out and get some "ghosts" or recruit the tons of people that it will take, all you can do is just put maintenance in the city to keep it up. No more improvements, no more adding to militia...nothing.

What happens, if the character of the old Mayor gets deleted and a new Mayor is on the ballot terminal? Does anybody know for sure?

have the CURRENT mayor contact a CSR for assistance, and list the details on server, city and Waypoint and ask them to transfer the city over.

Make sure you have a good showing on votes to show support and have your militia on standby incase they are required to support the leadership change.

The CSRs are not monsters nor are they without compassion.

In black and white, the CURRENT mayor owns all the structures and is the OWNER of the city hall. the CSR's will only listen to the OWNER of the title and act on any requests made by said such owner.

Be polite, curteous and patient and you might actually be successfull I know how difficult it is to wrangle up citizen votes to switch mayors. I had to import like 13 new voters just to get the old mayor out... and now that I'm done with being the mayor I've asked everyone to vote that person back in as they came back to the game. I doubt they'll be successfull though.

This one is the one that really gets my goat... because even though there are few politicians, they bugs in the profession affect tons and tons of other people - more so than any other profession.

This is something I really don't understand: obviously there are more riflemen out there than politicians, but this is a critical profession for the game, at least in terms of roleplaying. Without cities, this game would be just hunting rancors, tuskens, quenkers, etc.

If I would like to go just for the combat thing, I would buy Doom 3 and enjoy really good graphics, sound and environment. I want to play an Role Playing Game. Maybe it's my fault, maybe I need to go back to school, but I thought I read MMORPG in the game box.

In fact, this profession should get greatly improved. Really. I am greatly disappointed about the way non-combat professions are being treated in this game, despite of most people just like to be able to show how many geonosians they killed.

P.S. By the way, JTL release _IS NOT_ an excuse. I am paying the same amount of money whether it's about to be released or not.

we already planned to try this, but according to Tiggs, (who reponded to my PM saying there is nothing they can do) I don't hold much hope that a csr will help. I'm hoping this issue is all 5 of the top 5 issues for politician.

we currently have 110 citizens and we've been short by a few votes each week. We've been doing an aggressive e-mailing to all citizens to try and get everyone online to vote, but many people are involved in WoW and other games and don't come to swg as much as they used to. As soon as I get home tonight I'll post the current count here and would appreciate any help we can get. Our election cycle seems to end monday mornings at servers start, so we are trying hard to get this settled by the weekend.

I had no idea what a pain this was for our previous mayors until I threw my hat into the ring. You'd think such a unique system as player cities would get a little bit more support from the devs.

instead of answering the PM, I'll post here so everyone can see:

if your mayor's planning on quitting or have quit, here's something the devs said back in fanfest (I went back and pulled it out of Laeren's pots):

"Is there any help for mayors wishing to give up office and give the office to the other candidate running for mayor? Or is there any help for cities in which the mayor has left the game, but is still winning the weekly election?"

If it is a truly dire case of needing to switch the city over to another mayor, CSRs can help the city with this, especially in the case of where a mayor has left the game (cancelled account) and the next mayor is trying to get elected.

if the CSR says otherwise, you can (politely) inform them about this. I'm really not suppose to do CSR stuff, so you'll have to submit a ticket in game.

keep this in mind I swore quite alot in the week I tried to beat the old mayor....

110 citizens... so you need 56 votes currentlyplus what ever new residents you add to the city in the process of voting.

(which slides as you add more citizens...)

because if you have 45 votes currently you need to add 11 votes to bring the count to 56.. then you have to have 61 votes to win.. outta your new citizen total of 120 people... and then you need 6 more people to move in to get that total up.. next thing you know you need to find 22 people just to out vote the the masses..... this is where it gets very difficult to outvote someone. you are facing 65 negative votes... you need 22-23 new peopel to help you.

here's a break down considering you are trying to beat 65 oppsed voters Don't fall asleep it's math.

in this example you are -65 so need to have 66 votes.

Ctz voters

100 50
101 50.5
10251
103 51.5
104 52
105 52.5
106 53
107 53.5
10854
109 54.5
110 55
111 55.5
112 56
113 56.5
11457
11557.5
11658
11758.5
11859
11959.5
12060
12160.5
12261
12361.5
12462
12562.5
12663
12763.5
12864
12964.5
13065
13165.5
13266 <==== Need voters
13366.5
13467
13567.5
13668
13768.5
13869
13969.5
14070

This tels me you need 132 citizens just to beat the election. depressing huh..

Fear not I did it this without CSR intervention but it cost me alot of money buying houses.

Send me an ingame email or /tell to my Valcyn account if you are interested.

Let me get back to you in a day or two I'll make some "calls" talk to some people and see what can be done.

as in everything political.. it's not so much what you know it's who. How many people are you short of 50%? +1 vote?
