Recently Rauha held a CLUE event with live-action players of the various characters, as well as live rooms and weapons too. Here's how we did it:
First, you will need a separate house, locked to the public, but available to yourself and your 6 suspects.
There are 9 rooms in clue, 6 suspects and 6 weapons.
Rooms
In your city find 8 rooms that resemble the 8 of the 9 rooms, and put a big sign in each of the declaring them that particular room. Make one final sign for the room that you don't use, and place the last one in the locked house. Also, decorate that locked house to match the sign you choose to be in there.
The Hall
The Lounge
The Dining Room
The Kitchen
The Ballroom
The Conservatory
The Billiard Room
The Library
The Study
The Weapons
Have each of the 6 weapons made up, clearly labeled as belonging to your CLUE event (something like CLUE: Weapon, or CLUE: Knife). Place 5 of them in places around your city, nice and conspicuously, and put the last one in the locked house.
Knife (dagger)
Candlestick(dearic candle)
Revolver(CDEF Pistol)
Rope(rank sash)
Lead Pipe(Rifle barrel)
Wrench(metal fasteners)

The Suspects
Dress up 6 people in the various colored costumes. If they've seen the movie, all the better, ask them to act like the characters. Have them mingle with the party audience prior to the event. When the event starts, the 6 of them go relocate themselves in conspicuous places, but one actually goes to your locked mystery house.

When you're ready, have the party guests go out and try to find the weapons, rooms and suspects. They cross them off their lists, and then make guesses as to whom, what and where is in the final locked house (have them email their guesses to you).
When the event is over, open the locked house to the public, and the people will know if they were correct or not.
I know I glossed over the game and everything, but if you're familiar with the game, this version works as an event.
Thanks and happy sleuthing!

/applaud Bravo! What a marvelous idea! I would love to read more on how your event turned out. Were there glitches to look out for if you do it again? Logistical problems? Things you would change? How successful of an event was it? Did you give a prize to the winner?

I've always wanted to doa murder mystery of some kind, and this is an excellent way to do it, nicely done!
You could probably do one of the "host your own mystery" type party games in the same way.
Once again, a great idea.

Maybe we could replace the candlestick with the "nerf bat"

As far as how it turned out "IRL", it seemed that the weapons may have been a little small, but the room signs (armor segments) worked out just fine, so I figure the addition of an armor segment sign next to the suspect weapon would work just fine.
I think people liked the idea - people seemed very enthusiastic over the notion of the game, and were running all over our city trying to find everything within the time limit.
We limited the search to houses with a red pillar signpost on it so they didn't have to search every building, and that seemed to work well too.

I'd just like to say thanks to Laeran for this idea. I rana slight variation on thislast night in Atonement Valley and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants.
