we have had a election running un aposed and have not gotten any results fo rthe last 2 weeks

Are you sure about that? That seems way too long. My guild just placed a new city and 1 week after the initial placement we had election results.
Asa side note, I noticed that all of the citizens previous votes were renewed for the next election.I was told that they remain the same forthree weeks and then citizens actually have to go physically vote again.
If an election cycle is three weeks then we might as well give up because at outpost rank our mayor got 21 votes which came out to 750 XP. The first tier of Politician skills are 1000 XP each so he didn't even get the ability to place anything.

At the end of each week the current mayor receives 750 politician XP. Additionally at the end of each three week election cycle (you'll receive an e-mail when this occurs) each candidate receives 300 politician XP for each vote they received in the election.

Elections are three weeks long and city updates occur once every week.

I'm not sure how the election cycle works when you first place the city hall. That is, do you start the 3 week cycle at placement, or do you fall into the planetary cycle - which could explain the results at 1 week.
