Thread: What defines a Master Politician?

I was having a discussion in guild chat last night about all the great new changes. Someone asked me if I was going to finally work towards mastering the politician profession now that I don't have to worry about sacrificing the SP for it. I told them I am already a master politician, I just dont have the badge. This of course confused several of them until one of my officers pointed out that my organization of the Imperial forces, establishment of a functional government on Dantooine, and ability to finese others into doing things my way, qualified me to be a master politician.

I was wondering how many of us out there actually do more with the politician profession than place trainers for people. On Kettemoor I am working to build an actual player-based Galactic Empire (no we wont have a player Emperor), and I have a blast playing the evil political architect of our Emperor's New Order. What are you doing on your server to make politician more than just a title?

That sounds great

I've been interacting a lot lately with players from Kettemoor in the work in my city on Scylla.

I think the biggest quality for me that makes a difference to my job as mayor is the diplomacy I'm able to bring to the game. Scylla has a big history with majorly bad blood and lack of communication between factions and guilds. The only efforts so far on the server to bring people together have been attempts at same-side faction PVP cooperative efforts which haven't always worked because of infighting. It's been a long, Long time since anyone talked a lot about trying to unite all the RPers of the server so everyone can get an opportunity at the full range of it - like well over a year. Some people have said why not just go to a server with an established RP base, but it just seems like so much more fun to try to tap into the potential of a server that's got a lot of interesting people and great RPers who just don't know about each other.

When I'm doing things as mayor, I'm not just thinking about a single guild but trying to build a place of Star Wars for the entire server. It's been a lot of hard work and not fun struggling at times in the past, but it's really rewarding when I get people from different sides all expressing interest and a desire for it to succeed. When someone comes by starving for RP & is able to find it there, that makes the whole thing worthwhile.

I try to do the same. I realize the enemy is just as starved for content and more avenues of play as we Imperials are. And I try to let them know that we are willing to work for them. But I am also an Imperial, and I try to play as best I can. We even created a "ghetto" in our metropolis where our alien residents live in tat styled houses.

Very cool!

We have a ghetto, too, but it's just part of the background of the town.

What defines a Master Politician? Simple answer: dedication and a hard skin

About the city districts, we created a second city 1000 m from CH to CH and made it a suburb of th original one. That enabled us to give those a place who would IC not fit in the first city.

hmm - I thought it was the ability to lie, cheat, steal, dally with women/men/aliens you weren't supposed to, avoid answering a straight question, waffle on interminably about whatever you think is important and generally be considered a low-life .... or is that just real-life politicians ?

hehe
