Thread: Suggestion: Set City Music Ability (Master Politician)

The lack of musical variety and "starwarsy" themes in SWG is rather severe. Often I've heard that there IS a lot of Star Wars music in the game - just in fairly remote places where people don't tend to hang around.

Well, how about letting the City Mayor at a certain skill level (Master, I'd suggest) set a specified City Music. This way you could easily get a feel and mood of the town and also add more musical variety.

Let the Master Politician choose from, say, perhaps 10 musical themes. And include some of the "rare" pieces of music in there as well (Force Theme, Imperial March etc).

I'd really love to hear the Imperial March in imperial cities, for example...

(Not a politician myself, but I think this might have been suggested before. Even if it has, it is too cool not to bring up again though.)

Kinda distracts from the natural noises around though doesn't it?

It wouldn't detract from background noises if it played when you entered the city, kind of like when you load into a certain area or planet.

As a music lover, I think this would be a great feature for Politicians.

Yes, I suppose it would - in exactly the same way as the music in original cities (Bestine, Anchorhead)do. If it is only played when one enters an area/city, it is not very distracting.

Andwhile SWG has many, many strengths, ambient sounds and sound effects are not one them in my opinion. Music is not one of it's strengths either - but it certainly could be.

Also, I'd think that if this ever would make it into the game there would naturally be an option for the Mayor to enable City Music or leave it turned off.

I recall hearing a story that for the original movie (Episode 4) the sound man went out to White Sands to record rocket engines. The air conditioner in his motel room was broken and making an awful noise... He recorded it and that's the Millenium Falcon.

Now go to your shuttleport... Do you hear a Greyhound Bus?

As both a master musician and a politician id have to say i support this 100%. The master Politician box definately needs SOMETHING!

Also i think they should make jukeboxes a player crafted or looted item so that its a permanent item. I hate having to run to a hotel to rent a new one every 8 hours.
