Thread: Can a Mayor destroy the City Hall?

Yes. A spiteful Mayor can delete the city hall and consequently the city at any time.
Should this happen, you have to contact the CSR's right away with the situation. I recommend that if you feel that it is very likely to happen, then send a note to the CSR team before the upset Mayor destroys the city just to give them a heads up that something ugly might happen. You are not the first person to suffer through this situation.
A note of advice:
I usea /destroystructure macro when I am picking up gardens each week to save on maintenance. The targeting of that macro can somtimes be a bit sticky. So i NEVER use it when I am near the city hall. Else I could accidently whack the city hall. I came close to nuking it one day and since then have never used the /destroystructure macro within 50m of the city hall.
The CS department is not the U.N.
Getting CSRs involved can be tricky...it is up to the individual CSR to determine the course of action. In my time as mayor, I have seen this happen many time (not in my city gladly).
Normally the CSR looks for how the city was destoyed. Did the Mayor threaten to destroy the city hall...and then do so when they lost? It is normaly found that it is greifing to threaten the action. The CSRs in these cases seem more likely (although not 100%) to restore the city and in some cases ban the mayor's account. Most cases of cities being destoryed fall into this catagory...as the mayors that are likely to destroy are also likely to make it clear they will.
On the other hand, if the mayor were to destroy it without threatent to do so..say..you know they are kinda crazy and yet you run against them..if they were to just go out the day before the change and delete the city hall with no warning, or just say "Hey guys..Im destoying the city and moving to Talus have a nice life"...I have seen in most cases that the CSRs did nothing...more saying to choose a better mayor next time..or "working as intended".
note: if the current mayor hasnt said anything...reporting them to a CSR for the possibility could lead to it being destroyed as well. Most people dont like being reported for something they might do, but haven't.
Reality is...there is a switch available to mayors to destroy a city with the stroke of the mouse. Anyone running against a mayor has to keep that in mind. The ability was given to mayors for a reason. You can't expect the CSRs to come in and play "United Nations" for you. If that "delima" wasnt intended to be apart of the game, they wouldnt have put the option there. Sometimes you have to do some diplomacy to keep your city when a mayor turns rogue.
just my 2creds....
