I have been trying to get voted in as Mayor and the old mayor wants out. However, the voting terminal seems to be kicking my votes to below his no matter how many votes I actually get.

I was ahead of him on Thursday 38 to 36 but today when I looked it is 34 to his 36.

Has anyone else had buggy voting terminals?

Can players vote right up until Sunday?

I am stuck in limbo until I get voted in.

Oh yeah.. can I use the city hall for storage once I get voted in?

This was happening to me when I ran to take over for our first mayor. It seemed buggy to me, but I just keep plugging away and reminding ppl to vote - and the big advantage for me, was a small guild joined our city. Their leaders knew me and threw in thier support - and it all worked out in one weeks time.

Yes, citizens can vote up until the city update time - I'm NOT sure if they can CHANGE their vote, but probably so.

Yes, you CAN use city hall for storage when you are mayor. I'm not sure of the amount, but probably 250.

Well it seems screwy to me, someone tried to vote for me twice today.. with 2 different accounts/characters and it did not add his 2 votes which would have put me ahead. Its 34 35 right now so I won't win unless I get 36 votes.. which by all rights should have happened when he voted for me twice. so it did not tally the votes.

Your vote is only counted once, though you can change your vote at any time. Also, if you loose a citizen, you loose a vote.

Not sure what happened to your votes, but I have never seen a bug with the tally votes. Maybe it's a new one?

The mayor of our player city would like to spend more time playing other aspects of SWG and wishes to stop being mayor. He has asked me to take the position, and I'mwilling to do it. Our guild leader, officers, and all the members I see regularly support me in this.

Unfortunately, the current mayorcan't resign, and he can't withdraw from the mayor's race. So I'm running for the spot against him, which seems to be the only way. However, the incumbent automatically gets all the votes of city residents by default. When someone votes for the challenger, avote is then deducted from the incumbent. What a terrible system! We are a large guild, and our city, Pompeii on Lok (Intrepid server), is agreat metropolis. We have 120 residents of our city. Getting more than 60 people to vote in a single week is difficult at best, as many are in college, off on trips, busy working in RL, or busy playing the game and just forget to vote every week, even though we're sending frequent email reminders (several a day) and discussing it in guild chat. This is now starting the third weekoftrying. People are coming out to vote, but not 60+! At the moment, I have 40 votes to the incumbent's 80. I am getting politician xp from the votes, but can I use these skills to help the city if I'm not its mayor? Can I place structures, terminalsor trainers? Can I do anything productive? Can anyone answer these questions please?

So far, it looks like our current mayor will stay mayor, even though he doesn't want it, and we don't see him very often. Something's wrong here. There has to be a better way to switch city leadership. I can understand the incumbent having apercentage ofdefault votesjust to keep things going, but all? There has to be a way for the current mayor to back out. (What would happen ifthe mayor of a cityleft the game?? I'd really like to know.)The game is forcing someone toplay a part and accept responsibilities he doesn't want any longer. (Even in real life a politician can resign!)

I submitted an in-game ticket, but the CSR said there was nothing he could do because the idea is for all city residents to be active, quote... "this is by design." They want residents to be active, but theyautomatically default the people's votes to the incumbent, which encouragesthem NOT to be active. Why bother voting if your vote is already cast for you each week?

I would really appreciate some suggestions on how to make this transition happen, not just for myself, but for the poor guy who's currently stuck with this joband no way out. Thanks.

Only a Mayor can place structures or use Mayorial skills in the city they are Mayor of.

This is one of the top issues with the Politicians... to enable resignation.

If you don't want to pull your hair out trying to get everyone to vote the current Mayor out of office, you have another option.

Tell your current Mayor to destroy City Hall. Then YOU place a new City Hall. Voila... instant Mayor. Keep in mind however, that you will be a NEW outpost. Not a pretty alternative, but an option nevertheless.
