Who takes money out of the city treasury? Who feels comfortable paying themselves? Who here has citizens that accept the mayor should make money from running the city?

I'm sure there's probably one or two people that would answer yes to the above, but for the rest of us:

It'd be kinda cool if the mayor was automatically paid a salary (as part of the maintenance line items in the budget) for being Mayor of the city. The salary should probably adjust based on the size of the city and/or the number of citizens. It shouldn't send emails to the citizens, it should just happen as part of the cost of the city.

I know a few mayors that would turn around and toss it back into the maintenance...but at least you get some compensation for your time and skills spent.

When I'm low on credits, I'll just skim out of the City Harvestor resource sales.

I figure so long as they are on my lots, and I put the resources up for sale.....

I assume you're trying to look legit and cover up the bribes?

I was reminded the other day from our resident architect that I do in fact get extra lots for being mayor...it's called the city hall. I have a place of residence and a place to store all my crap.

So thats one perk.

I personally don't touch the treasury as our guild finances all housing and decorations, so I couldn't rightly justify a withdrawl for a garden purchase.

NOW If I decided to move out of city hall and get a house in town, maybe I could justify the city paying for it, as Mayor loses skill points that could be used towards a money making profession.

That's the only compensation I could see, I use all these skill points to help you enjoy your SWG experience, when I could have a leet profession making money.

I personally don't care about money and am supplied everything i need by my guild.

okI don't touch my cities treasury except to add creds. I will be master politician in 2 weeks and I am also master marksman and 2232 pistoleer and 1102 artisan. I can easily become master artisan if I drop pistoleer and be able to make money doing missions and making vehicles. so there is no real reason to have a salary except for reasons that RL politicians get paid out of taxes(and bribes and political campaign funds they skim from) because I CAN go out and make money

I can take down my house and use city hall as a residence? I didn't know that. How many lots does City Hall take up and how much can I put in there?

As for being paid, my citizens are insuring I am comfortable. Don't need any money from the coffers

The mayor is automatically a citizen in his own city. There is no need for him to have a house per se. The city hall does not take up any lots. This is actually the only real advantage a mayor gets IMO - 10 free lots to use for his own purposes. (They really should do the same for guild leaders. It is insane that a guild hall uses 9 lots.)

you should be REALLY confident in your ability to stay mayor if you are using a civic structure to store your items. You lose the election...the next mayor gets all your stuff.

Confident...? How can we not be confident in it. Chances are that nobody would want to run against many if not all of the first round mayors. On top of that, the chances of them actually winning are slim to none. I mean heck... check the number o threads on this board where people can't lose an election even if they TRY to.
