Thread: Since Player cities aren`t bases is there a fix for naboo medium house walls?

As I have read in a few other threads the developers supposedly have stated that cities are to remain open.
Across several servers houses are being used to create artificial walls and faction bases are then being placed inside the city next to a clone facility. Is this working as intended? It seems kind of broken that houses can be placed to form walls, and if this is as intended why is it that only 1 hose style can be used to accomplish this.

I believe generic/corellia houses can be used to somewhat more limited effect. (Their sides can touch but not the back, though I haven't actually been able to test this as we have very few generic houses in the city.)

I know nothing of Tatooine architecture.

well, since they won't give us walls like a real city I think it is a viable alternative.

Besdies if you walk along the wall the second you hit the next house you pass right through it. So the wall is just pretty to look at and only affects newbies that don't know any better.

Yes I am calling you a newb.

Besides, there are always oppenings in those walls or else even the city dwellers couldn't get inside.

plus the naboo houses are supposed to go right next to each other. they are like townhouses. They make up apartment blacks and would look stupid sitting all far apart. Try making a city look good on a planet where you can't set stuff next to each other like tattooine.

So next time when you see a wall, know that it is just there to look pretty and you can walk right through it if you want.

But then that would be an exploit too and you should report yourself if you do so.

I think thats my point, I am well aware of how to get past the walls I just fail to see the logic in the whole thing. They don`t provide walls so cities won`t become bases yet you can place houses to create the illusion of walls. Then if you walk through the illusion it is an exploit?
My main issue is that there is no standard applied to this on some servers CSRs are removing mines and forcing cities open and on others they are not doing anything. In the thread about /citywarn Plinka stated that the devs want cities open and not functioning as bases, the housewall placement seems to go directly against this.

yes, but my point is that in a city their are large buildings you can't walk through and you have to walk around them.

These buildings are like one big building and you have to find the door.

And while plinka may not think cities should be factional cases, other devs have stated how player can and should place their bases inside of cities to gain the advantage through the /citywarn /cityban features.

So I think it is still being argued about at SOE.

Plinka may be winning though since they might take away /citywarn in the next update. But other cities have walls that actually work, we should to. because faction cities are a fact in player cities and the origional cities. Factions will attack other fgactions cities and vice versa. so we need to try and defend ourselves don't we? even if it just against the newbs that don't know any better.

But really, I think it looks cool, and since it doesn't affect gameplay, just leave it alone.

Sepparate your cities houses if you want.

Leave mine alone.
