Hello

I am the mayor of a city and also the city planner. Ive spent countless time organising streets and a town center so that our city can actually feel like a city. In the streets there are streetlamps on every other house, statues are appropriately placed etc.

Yet I see cities that literally look likea pile of concrete, there are houses everywhere in every direction, factories and harvesters litter the streets and there is an occassional fountain or street lamp placed. Im not trying to flame or anything, butI just think its such a shame when people have the power to make something great and uniquethat they spoil it so that they can get a cloning center and a shuttleport. There civic buildings arnt even decorated! Especially when there are other people who would love to create a proper city. What annoyed me was that people wanted to live in these cities, they have shuttleports etc. while i am still stuck at just over 40 people trying to create a realistic and fun city.

The main point of this post was to release some of the anger I am feeling and to applaud or salute any mayor/city planner who has taken the time to make his/her city the best it is, realistic and decorated. If anyone is feeling the same anger I am please release it here , if you think I am just griefing and dont agree, then dont post I know that what a city becomes is up to the people who live in it, but when they are literally bundles of concrete, it just makes me want to cry.

You want to see a true city? one of beauty and power? come to Dark City on Naboo, Corbantis.

Our mayor Kleanex has done a great job of building our city into perfection. Just dont be a rebel, hehe

I believe that a major cause of this is the inability to actively zone the entirety of our city radius. Unfortunately, people can move in ourside of your active area and drop a house wherever, effectively blowing out of the water any plans, no matter how beautiful, a town had for the landscape.

My suggestion has been to allow zoning for the entire radius against permanent structures, thus allowing people to place harvestors in unused areas, but not houses or factories that could end up ruining a city plan. Any harvestor that then stayed past a resource shift could pretty much then be labled a grief strcuture after a few days, and could warrant CSR intervention, since no one in their right mind would pay maintenance on a structure that harvested nothing, with taxes on top of it.

By the same token, cities that feel like they were planned bythe military are pretty common. I was shooting for a more organic feel on Dantooine, with streets but some hills that are packed tight with houses. I think the effect works.

Actually I hate symmetry to a good extent and find the helter skelter towns to be alot more interesting. At my future site we are on top of a plateaue, so there are only a few instances where we could have "streets" everything else is just gonna be culdesacs and I love it. I can't wait to get my city hall down and start getting new citizens to populate.

Now as far as not decorating some buildings...tis a shame and an opportunity. I wish people would decorate their homes and such to make them more homey but then I'd be out of a lot of credits
