Thread: OPTIONS to replace, redo, or re-implement /citywarn
Force remove cities from POI areas.
Do not allow people with citywarn TEF to clone in the city they were warned in.
Allow cities to declare for a faction. Do not allow placement of faction deeds unless city is declared.
Do not allow opposing faction to clone in factioned cities. (So they can't be griefed with scanners and other things)
Ok, here's some ideas, and please feel free to add your ideas. This is a serious topic that has all of usupset across all of the galaxies. Yes a few people abused/griefed/exploited the /citywarn command, and now we are going to pay the price. Fine. But we can do more than just petition SOE, we need to also present SOE with a list of acceptable alternatives.
So here's my ideas:
Add a skill to martial policy 1 called Demilitarized Zone (DMZ): When emplaced, it prevents all forms of combatwithin the city limits; duels exempt possibly. The skill DMZ would prevent the need for a militia to prevent PvP. (In my personal case, our militia uses /citywarn only to stop PvP in our town. Yes, some people want a PvP free town.)
Change /citywarn to a temporary 5 minute ban from town. The person would be warped to the city limits, and not allowed to re-enter for 5 minutes. This would stop people from forcing PvP on nuetrals who do not want the PvP aspect of the game. This would also stop the city warn/clone/kill grief where people camp and /citywarn a person in the city's clone facility non-stop.
When a person is city banned their insurance, clone costs, and ticket costs they spent in the town should be refunded. Cities are using /cityban on people who buy tickets just to get the city revenue and grief. (Personally happened to me on my server, and I've heard it has happened on other servers.) Until SOE changes this, don't buy round trip tickets to player cities. When you get baned, you are stuck with a ticket that you can't use. Also, after a person has cloned in a PC clone center, and they die, give them 2 options, clone at the PC center or clone at an NPC clone center, with NO decay. That would stop the city warn/clone center griefing.
Also, Prevent the use of /citywarn within 1,000 meters of a POI or static hunting area. This would stop people from controlling said areas. This would also remove the need for SOE to remove /citywarn.
I say combine /citywarn and /cityban to one command, I mean if you are going to kill the person do you really want them using your shuttle or cloning?.
The beef I have with this occured just 2 days ago. I went to atown to buy supplies for an interior design job, while trading with a citizen I was banned and warned. I had just enough time to trade before ejected from the building, and stuck on the stoop making it impossible to fight...also my move macroes were up and I was unarmed but that's my fault. Now if I was given 5 minutes or so to get my arse out of town I'd be happy and would have left gladly but no such luck. The imp just opened fire with no "This is a loyal city get out you scum" verbal warning first. I got lucky and got the items but if he had come around 5 seconds sooner...
Keep the militia's power just give us actual time to leave, I mean hell if I was on a 56k odds are I wouldn't even know I was warned before the cloning message popped up.

In my city this would be better than using /citywarn. Odds are a crimson razor cat or grassland slice hound will do the dirty work for us.
Repost from the entertainer board:
I have never used this feature. What it should do in my oppinion is pop up a message box like this:
"The local militia politely asks you to leave their (city)."
[Leave] [Resist]
Leave should teleport you to the next city border. Resist puts you into PvP. This is consensual PvP like a duel. This MsgBox has to be applicationmodal ( in non-developer words: while you have not answered it, you cannot do anything else ).
Putting cities on POIs... should not be allowed. I mean, I don't want to see the ruins of an ancient civilization with "Deathk1ller"'s House next to it. POIs should have a non-build radius like other sites.
