last week in politics

Hey Pappi! it's a new week sweetie! annnd A whole lot hashappened in my city I can't wait to tell!

heh, sorry it's a really busy week, and I didn't remember about it until earlier today.

well, I still have no politics, but there is this thing TH was mentioning... so if it *is* fixed by today, someone let me know?

before I forget... I've been reading a lot of old requests on the forum. the devs have already said no, so please stop asking! posting again and again isn't going to help. examples of things that the devs already said they won't consider:

raising city cap
reinstating the old citywarn
NPC city politics
...

I have seen some great ideas mentioned in posts, however please realize that we're not getting a revamp any time soon, and most of these ideas will take a lot of time to consider and implement. I would comment on them more if I had the time, but currently I don't rest assure that I read every intelligent post on the forum (no guarantees on the others)

alright, how's your city this week?

Okay, so they wont' consider the city cap, NPC Politics (whatever that is).

How about the glaring, most obvious issue that is repeated over....and over....and over...on this forum?

Do you think they laugh when you send in requests from the Politicians?

City Expansion
===================
Another week has passed and we welcome two new residents to our little Island. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Peow and Pelle. To cope with this expansion I have recruited Haviland Tuf into the Militia to aid citizens with any problems they may have.
Imperial Blockade is over
===================
Yes as you may have heard the Imperial planetary blockade is now over and the shipping lanes are once again open to up and coming pilots. In anticipation of the increased demand for Starships, one of our citizens, Lareia has kindly donated a +42 Starship crafting terminal. This terminal has been placed in the crafting room at the Haven Island Town Hall for all to use.

City Trainers
===================
Following feedback on the forums I have recruited some new trainers. Keeping inline with our city specialisation I have hired crafting trainers and placed them in the crafting room at the Haven Island town hall. So the current list of trainers is.

Haven Island Town Hall

    Architect
    Armoursmith
    Tailor
    Weaponsmith
    Droid Engineer
    Chef
    Bio-Engineer
    Artisan
    Politician
    Merchant
    Commando
    Bounty Hunter

Dr Soo’s Medical Centre
    Medic
    Combat Medic
    Doctor

We are looking to recruit a shipwright trainer but they are in short supply at the moment, one will be hired as soon as they are available.

Battle report from Monday Hunt
===================
The Monday hunt was a resounding success and will be taking place again on Monday 1st November. If you would like to join us meet at the Haven Island Town Hall at 20:00 GMT.

**Report follows**

Whilst scavenging the vast tundra of Dathomir our group of intrepid explorers happened on a cave, untouched by the hands of other hunters. The began their slow decent into the gloomy depths. The stench of death and decay clung to the walls, the only opposition so far a few spiders that were quickly dispatched.

Then emerging from the shadows she was spotted, a Nightsister Elder. The group formed up the melee classes in the front flaked by the rifle men T21's at the ready. On the command they unleashed a huge volley of fire the sounds of battle reverberated off the walls pounding their ears, seconds passed and as the smoke cleared they found themselves staring at the cold clinical walls of the Cloning centre.

It was agree they would return on Monday 1st November for another attempt.

**End of Report**

City of Rauha, Naboo (Starsider

Dear Pappi:

Things are good in Rauha as usual. We are picking up a few citizens here and there after I stepped up our advertising campaign. A conglomerate of merchants was eyeing Rauha very strongly, until I told them they'd have to actually be citizens of the city in order to sell outta it, in which case they backed out rather rapidly. That's fine though, and I hope they city they are founding on their own on Dant flourishes (I'm helping them get it going, in fact).

Everyone is looking forward to JTL and how it's going to impact everything. We'll see how it goes! I get my copy this afternoon I think.

Oh, and plans are going forward for our one-year anniversary. Hopefully people have fun at the party

Mayors Report: - X -, Lok Ahazi

* the screen clears displaying a holographic Image of the right Honorable Erann Elaske. She is wearing her traditional pleated skirt with white trim on the bottom, a tight fitting black suit jacket and black lekku wrap tying her lekku behind her.*

Dear counsel members, I am relaying this transmission on the back up imperial communication network.

* Turning she whispers back and forth from two imperial officers. After a few moments she returns to the center. *

The city is under attack, I must make this quick. Things were promised, installations delayed and citizens given too many freedoms. * clenching her teeth and sneering * the time for action is at hand I have thrown the city into revolt. I have effectively weeded out the east side from the west and have effected and have flexed my power over the city.

As we speak… nothing stirs the economy better than a war. I have demanded my Galactic community war factional facility to be constructed and have instructed the officers that I am not as forgiving when faced with non progress responses as other leaders in the past.

There were some dissidents in the city arguing over authority and cat calling the Mayor for bringing an economical depression to the city. I have since seized the citizens bank assets and suspended public transport as well as revoked genetic clone privileges until such time as it takes to learn how to /worship.

It is true nothing stirs up a hornets nest as pulling all civic structures and demanding order. Effectively Monday 25 Oct the City center was razed to the ground and a new center was erected in the reserve location set aside for this very task.

The shuttle port facility was moved to the new grounds for everything PVP. The clone center was moved beside the newly constructed cantina and the bank and garage were relocated to make it easier for the masses to do their thing. Anew Guild hall was established to act as a mall, and several gardens and statues were dropped to prevent unauthorized construction.

As you depart the shuttle port you are greeted with a large park where all the trainers can be found to your left youwill find the bank and garage and new cantina. Behindthe cantina you will discover the GCW Base which is inside city limits which when you clone.. sends you out already overt. (good and bad). If your looking for work you can find one of each terminals at the base of the cantina centralizing and making life easier. The Clone center is 90 to the cantina across the garage and bank and the hospital is located behind the clone center. Everything is within walking distance and the openness allow for nonstop PVP. This was once again reignited out hatred from our Rebel terrorists in the neighboring city of Redemption. With the changes and the factional base the city has come alive once more with multiple guilds looking to join in the fun either defending or attacking us.

The result of this is the improved job market has gone to the wayside as the city was converted to medical center for the added 10% buff potential. It is unfortunate duel specializations still does not work.. So I dumped master politician and scaled back to 2 4 4 4 to free up 14 SP to be used for smuggler so I can splice the mission terminal to make up the loss of IJM specialization. This helps soo much I can’t describe it, however the empire doesn’t enjoy smugglers so we’ll just splice this transmission to remove traceability.

The city it self is holding about 100 citizens, and going strong adding 5-6 new people a week far surpassing the 1-2 citizen burning in their out of game sleep.

We do need armor smiths and weapon smiths and any doctor and afk entertainers that want to assist or join our cause. We are having a real hard time finding a doctor to offer buffs there is too many members in need… and the 1 afk buff bot is overwhelmed in group usage. There is no shortage of PVP if that’s your bag baby in X and there is no shortage of PVE on Lok if that’s your bag too. The PVP players seem to respect not everyone is into pvp and most will let you escape if you tell them. This is great I have made several new contacts from opposing factions that love the new layout and the fun times.

The key secret is not to let the game get to you. I discovered I wasn’t taking a hit on decay on clone during this pvp spree and that has made it a lot more fun to free for all it.. That said… several issues regarding guild leader ship and militia responsibilities have surfaced that I’m looking forward to pursuing through this week and hope to detail progress should it come to life.

*turning to the side once more* yes I do have a habit of babbling.. * nod * looks like the terrorists are back.. end transmission…

* Before the signal is lost a war cry is yelled: “TOOOOO ARRRMMMSSS!!!” *

Heh Pulling all the civic structures really freak the people out especially after pulling the bank after asking them how much stuff they have in their bank. After they lip you off and replying.. Opps my finger slipped! *click destroy*

Problems encountered:

Garage did not work until after reset.

Things discovered:

The mayor can cloak an entire army from harm while in the city. Who says we don’t have power! I forced the base to be deployed and the second cantina to be deployed and forced all the cheese balls to move across town!

The once great city of Aventine continues to wallow in its newfound village status. I had hoped that with the launch of JTL people would be returning en masse, but I'm finding that people are returning slowly, finding that there's not much left of Aventine and moving elsewhere as a result. The city hall still stands mostly out of a sentimental desire not to see it fall. We're having to pump in 125k extra per week for a Research Center specialization that we no longer want, but due to a "known issue" you can't remove a specialization if you fall below level 3.

Towards the future...there's really three ways the rest of us can go at this point. First, we stick it out and try to rebuild Aventine. This is problematic because of the lack of benefits to player cities in general. I simply don't have a good argument for *why* someone should come live in Aventine. Secondly, we could move to another player city, but the same lack of arguments seems to apply there as well. I haven't seen anywhere that was worth moving to just yet. Maybe I expect too much. Finally, there's the open question of the CB and GCW revamps. If those go well, and I think they will, the previous options become much more viable. If they don't then Aventine's time in SWG in general will be limited.

What advantages does living in *your* city hold over a house/ship to store items just outside of a busier NPC city?

Safe Haven, Dantooine (Gorath)

Garnered a new citizen this week...an aspiring Armorsmith, which is always welcome...

Growth isn't nearly as fast as I'd like. Up to 30 Citizens now...Rank 3 is so close I can taste it.

Perhaps I need to motivate our Resident Master Doc to actively recruit...I know she wants her Hospital

Attempts at Recruiting a Shipwright Trainer to town have met with failure. Apparently our local Community College isn't notable enough to encourage someone in that trade to come here to our quaint town to live and teach. Will keep working on that angle, tho. Our local Shipwright was grumbling to me yesterday about all the money he's losing flying back and forth to Corellia just to make it in time for Classes.

Local wildlife seems to be back in good numbers again. We had concerns for a while that perhaps they had all been over-hunted. But as always, good work by our Wildlife Biologists has brought back heathly herds and populations. Kudos to the DNR!

Skies seem awefully busy lately...lot of new air and space traffic. Curious to see what that's all about.

Will report in again next week...

DESERT FLOWER COMMUNE, TATOOINE

Well, I am leaving office due to term limits (plan to catch up some long missed fishing ) and Dharma is soon to become the new mayor in about 18 hours. So this will be my last post in this thread as a mayor.

Growth spurted just a bit. Up to 73, but in a few days I will lose 2 residents for sure as they cancel their accounts and delete all their characters. Two to five more should follow in a couple of weeks and once the purge is ever initiated, I expect another lost of about eight. If this trend holds true, the future is in doubt. Moving or relocating has been discussed but there is much resistance. If the shuttleport is lost, that may change a few minds.

Impact of JTL is mixed. Seeing a bit more residents but overwhelmingly they are at Mos Espa completing pilot missions. So a few more people are more active but too bad it isn't in our city.

Fund raising has gone fairly well (since we have to taxes) and have raised just over 3 million the first week and three and three quarter of a million the second week. Nice to see some residents pull together.
