I did this on another thread but: The need for a vote of the citizens PRIOR to destruction of a City Hall - consider it a confirmation step.

  1. The ability to use examine on a structure and see who owns it.

  2. The ability to set up a city chat channel that persists with the city hall (meaning it doesn't go away when I log out).

  3. A permament mayors channel I can use to talk to other mayors.

  4. The ability to place npcs that will be the recipient of delivery missions from mission terminal missions and static city npc missions.

  5. A mayor tag above my head

  6. The ability to place pavement and courtyards.

In addition to yours (some of those I'm not concerned about, but some of those are really good ideas):

7. The ability to add someone to our /cityban list without them being inside the city limits. I can think of manyannoying, cheating grieferswho haven't visited our city, and I'd like to keep itthat way.

8. The ability to use the guild:[guild name] command like in a house's ban/entry list. I don't like the idea that enemy guilds will be able to use our shuttleport at least once to attack us, and when they do do this I'll have to be frantically adding their names to the ban list so they can't do it a second time.

I'm not a politician, probably wont post here again, but as I run through player made cities I think of a few things that would make them better. These may have already been posted, but here's my two cents worth...

Within the city limits - Mow the grass and bushes! Get rid of 'em at no additional cost. Make it look like someone lives there and takes care of the place instead of the wild west ghost town look. It would help on frame rates some too. Anyone could tell where the city limit is easily then as well.

Within the city limits - Fill in the ditches!... and other sharp elevation changes (unless the general lay of the land is that way. Don't get rid of the hills, I wouln't want it to be flat, just the obvious cuts in the landscape.

Give the city an option to change the standard ground texture - Mowed green grass... stone pavers... concrete tiles... whatever.

Walls... fences...lighted arch portals... Where's the defense? Be nice to wall in a garden area or the town perimeter or other zoning. Yea,possible problems and exploits but workable if thought out.

Apartment buildings. Low budget housing. A high rise with elevators to multiple apartments with a balcony, or not. City controls the building options and rent. Less storage space.

Bridges - Many cities are divided by water and we have to swim across. yea yea or use your vehicle.

Star ports - I'm sure this one's been asked for a hundred times. But maybe just for player spacecraft (when it comes). I highly doubt we'll be allowed to land our spacecraft just anywhere. OK, I'm reaching now.... too far off.

ok, that's my two..three cents worth.

All you dedicated politicians can run with the ideas or bash 'em to your liking.

Here's an older wish list that was started a while back but has since been lost (a lot of the ideas have been addressed in the Politician Top 5).

I love all the ones about fixing the landscape, we have a HUGE ditch in front of the city hall...

Yep, couldnt agree more. We chose a relatively flat plateau area for our city Mos Randa, got no problems at all with the city area being limited by the valleys that surround our town as this was how we intended the place to look, however the endless little holes that pock the flat plateau make planning a nightmare. Having the city radius appearing different to the surrounding wilderness would also be wonderful.
