Thread: Are city Specializations bugged?

I just used my XP to get fiscal 4. I got research facility and turned it on for our city. I then went off to craft. There is nothing different from when the specialization was off? So what gives? Does it actually work or is it bugged??? 125k is alot to spend for nothing!

This has been explained a number of times here (is it in a FAQ yet?), but what you get from research is improved odds on your final roll. It doesn't increase the number of experiment points you have, it improves the odds of getting a favorable roll when experimenting (more frequent amazings, less frequent failures).

Well first of all I'm not sure it take effect right away, maybe you have to wait for the next update so it initializes ...


To what it's worth, I can't really say ... the chance of getting "great" and "amazing" is higher ... thus you might need less experimentation points to reach the highest possible value in one category, thus you might still have points left to experiment in other catagories.

It does not take affect untilthe update.


And they are not worthless. People have done tests on failure rates.


I can attest that research center makes a big difference in high complexity schematics. We lost research center after having it and it takes me 3 attempts on average to make a good buff pack to where with research center I would have a 4 good packs to every one bad. Buffs are complexity 40.


Do I notice a big difference on lower complexity schematics. Not as much, but a master at a crafting profession has enough modifers that less complex schematics are a breeze anyway.

for hard core crafters this specialisation is a must.

I was using someone else's specialization.. I do get better success, but with the SOE totally random number.. you can get bad batch also..


like buffing... I have 920 buff pack.. I can buff one person and get around 1k-2k all stats.. while I buff the NEXT person with the same packs.. I get 2k-3k buffs..

But like I stated I do get bad results in research center with complex schmatics, just not near as many as without research center.
