We all agree that the Politician profession can be boring at times. Master politicians are arguing that there is no reason to keep the our skills. Honestly I'd have to say thats true.
Being the political junkie that I am there are a few things that the profession is lacking. The same holds true from College elections all the way up to President.

1)There are no ways to authorize force or policing of visitors to our cities
2)There is little to debate over electing me over another politician.
3)There are no “kickbacks” that i can give for supporting me.

My not so simple solution to this is to implement a player city faction system. To put it simply I can give and remove city faction points from players. I am going to use my city and other player cities on Dantooine (Eclipse) to create examples

Any player can have +/- 5000 Vodo-Siosk FP
Any resident can have -5000/ 7000 Vodo-Siosk FP
Militia members can have between 500/ 10000 FP
The mayor can have between -5000/ 20000 Vodo-Siosk FP

The faction points people loose or gain determine many things. One of These things is the behavior of the Mayor's NPC militia. The NPC militia behave much like CorSec Troopers, if you have + faction with the city they will help you if you have – faction with the city they will attack you.

The strength of the NPC militia is based on the mayors skills obtained through the Martial branch. The size of the NPC militia is based on city size (not with out a cost to the city treasury however)

How this can replace /city warn

The Mayor has the ability to /grantcityfaction and the mayor and the militia have the ability to /removecityfaction. Lets say a PC named Luuke walks into Vodo-Siosk and starts spamming saying how much the city sucks etc. A militia member walks up to and uses /removecityfaction on Luuke. Luuke receives a system message stating that he has lost 100 Vodo-Siosk faction, if he falls below -500 Vodo-Siosk NPC's may attack him. You see where this is going.

City Enemies and Allies

This is what can separate one mayor from another. The cities friends and enemies is determined by the mayor's faction points in other cities. Lets say I have -5000 Isle of Misfits faction and I have +5000 Valley of Darkness . Once I'm elected, Isle becomes a city enemy and Valley become a city ally.
This is where we can get creative, perhaps residents of a enemy city are immediately /citybanned or have to pay a higher ticket price or higher sales tax. Or we can go as far as to grant every citizen the city FP of the mayor thus if one of my residents goes into Isle they would be attacked by the city NPC militia because I have -5000 Isle FP.
If somebody attacks a member of my NPC militia they will loose Vodo-Siosk faction
The benefit of being a city ally will be presented in the next section with “kickbacks” and a politician rewarding your supporters

So Nostradamus gave me 5000 faction now what?

There will be 3 types of NPC's. The first NPC available at Jobs 3 will be a basic random quest giving NPC. The second type will give factional quests and will be available at Jobs IV. The final type of NPC will be the Mayor's assistant NPC. This NPC will be available at Master Politician.
The Mayors assistant NPC will be a quest giving NPC but it costs 1000 city faction to get a quest from this NPC. There will 10 random versions of this NPC determined upon placement. Each version will give out a select few rare items, thus the need for 1000 city faction cost.

This gives the player a need to interact with the politicians. It gives a few extra points of debate if we ever start having competitive elections. Any a decent enough content for us politicians.

Please feel free to add your own comments or suggestions.

this should limit once per day or something like that... if not.. it is pretty easy to get -5000 very fast...

I was thinking maybe a modification of cityban... if you are cityban then you have 20 minutes to leave the city.. after that... everytime you enter the city.. you are automatically red to all militia members

alternative is this... you could get auto randomly teleported to the borders of the city once banned... then if you chose to re-enter.. you get a popup warning... like this

"If you choose to enter this city you will be freely attackable" (default no) if you click yes.. you are asking for it

You just pointed out somthing large i left out of my plan. The mayor gets x amount of city fp based on where he/she is in the politican tree. Like at novice its 10 fp per resident per cycle and at master its 25 fp per resident, giving the politicans some reason to keep thier skills.

I was hopeing to see more replies when i got home from work... Oh well
