Thread: Can we tighten up the footprint of a garage?

Or maybe scale it to be bigger?

It takes the footprint of a large house but is the width of a Merchant tent. It makes the area around it sparse, yet it's unusable.

Actually it's "only" like a medium house (tatooine style, anyway - 5x5) ...

... but while at it, I'd like Merchant tents to be smaller footprint, large tatooine houses also have way to much free space to organize proper city streets (about 1 square on each side), All Tatooine Houses have so much room inbetween that you can't really see a street because of all the "passage ways"

the merchant tent I can see getting a smaller footprint, but make the garage bigger, not the foot print smaller. Also the free space around things is to allow for proper spacing so houses are not all wall to wall. think of the free space around the houses as your property and ask for the ability to place stuff outside on your property

Would you guys be interested in having a general look at footprints for gardens and structures? It would require a bit of work from everyone to do, but having footprint information on all the various city structures, sizein terms perhaps of placement-interface grid squares, would be a great benefit to other players and would give us some data to take to the devs in requesting changes.

Let me know if there is a group of you interested in tackling this, and I could make a sticky thread for you to bring your findings. If there is a group effort, I'd certainly be glad to add my findings as well.

the garden footprints are a tiny bit large...here is something else about gardens...I don't know if it is by design or not....they are not as forgiving as other city items...meaning gardens really have to be on flat ground compared to banks, houses, pa halls etc...

absolutly

the tatooine garage takes up the foot print of a med tat house and quite frankly with out the ability to decorate around it, it looks kind of silly.

Baj, I believe this work is all done already... it is certainly incorporated into the online layout tool. Maybe we just need to get in a readable format.

this would be awesome. The stuffin theonline manual makes no sense to me.

Another thing that would be great, is to have a list (preferably with pictures) of all the statutes types andstreet lightstyles.

that is not what we are looking for in this thread, we are looking at the footprints of structures such as gardens and garages that have a large footprint, but a small structure, you can find on the website under guides or something a pic of most decorations

Bajeezus asked if we footprints of structures and gardens would be nice. I said yes. and now I'm bumping it.

Online guides have only pictures and footprints for city structures and houses. Not for city decorations. At least I can't find any.

plus I think we should also list things like...

placing footprint vs actual foot print...

merchant is a good example... it is a 3x3 but actual is 1x1

that is what this post is about. To find pictures of what the statues and fountains and street lamps look like I'd suggest finding an architect friend who has the resources to make one of all of them, I'd do that for you, but my pa's website is down, so I can't get them hosted.
