Kevin O'Hara: ...We're very happy with player cities...

*waves like a lunatic*

What about the player base?

...so we'll definitely be adding improvements from time to time...

I wonder what his idea of "from time to time" means.

The basic functionality is there. They aren't too buggy, and if you role play a lot they are fine. I think the towns are fine, just politician sucks.

They could be much much better. Some game play for politicians, more design features, most everything we are asking for....

But as far as what was promised, I believe they have delivered on it. I hope around Thanksgiving they give us another pass and make the profession worthwile.

Kaessa: Player towns - are you happy with the way they are working, or are changes / updates in the works?

Kevin O'Hara: We're very happy with player cities. They offer amazing opportunities for community building and interesting new play dynamics. We do have a player correspondent to bring us the top requests/issues that players have with the design, so we'll definitely be adding improvements from time to time. For example, we have Player City Garages going into Publish 7: Droid Invasion as requested by the players.

That's a sad answer - I would not be happy with player cities because there are so many of them that are nothing more then GHOST TOWNS.many filled with dead vendors. Many of them are there one week anda fewweeks later gone. They offer little that can not be found inside the NPC cities often times more can be found in an NPC city. Theya re basically social money sinks unless they do something about it. Some have theme's which is nice others are just flat out in need of removal since they only crowd the server from good spawn sights or are used to protect Bases for IMperials and Rebels alike by placing houses side by side making a wall.

What new player dynamics do they offer there KEV? this is someoneso out of touch with his product he hasmissed the "Problems" we are experiencing.Yes you have a corospondant but that is a means to sweep the very question under the rug isn't it?

The corospondant seamed excited we got GARAGES this publish. WOW of all the freaking things to fix we get garages another usless money sink. Hey that's a great idea to be excited!!! I can finally place a garage NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WILL UTILIZE. Why? because 1.) Current garages can not and do not repair disabled vehicles. (neither do repair droids which just baffles me) 2.) why pay a fee when i can utilize a bug that allows my vehicle to be instantly repaired at the purchase of a ticket? (which is the ONLY way to repair disabled vehicles right now.)

How about fixing a real annoying problem that has been out as long as player cities? BIO ENGINEER TRAINER? how about that can we get one of those yet? Publish 7 the only freaking thing the development team could think of is the need for another useless money sink?

WHAT ABOUT OUR COROSPONDANT KEV? WHAT ABOUT OUR LIST OF ISSUES ANYONE HOME???

our issues have been much larger then "we need garages."

Several of us have been asking for spy net operative and Bio engineer trainers since before vehicles came out... so why are garages on the list of important additions to us this publish?

"WHAT ABOUT /CITYWARN???" when can we have /citywarn back? all i am right now is a glorified foreman. I tell people what to build and then i place those structures. Yeah ther's a lot fo important fun and use in that huh... but "YOU ARE HAPPY"

lets see what was more requested? /citywarn or garages?

Bio-engineer trainer (has been a continual request since the introduction fo the politican skill tree) or Garages (did not become needed untiul vehicles came out several weeks after the introduction fo player cities)

Spy Net Operative or Garages?

rebel and Imperial recruiter or garages?

BUT SOMEHOW GARAGES ARE THE ONLY THING THAT WERE REQUESTED BY PLAYERS ON THAT LIST OF MUST BE PUSHED OUT WITH PUBLISH 7?

DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE A FRIED EGG? DID I MISS SOMETHING HOW IS IT THAT GARAGES BECAME SO IMPORTANT THIS PUBLISH?

And I thought garages were set to go life last year on City Publish, and for some Dev reason didn't ...

My sentiments exactly. Being mayor is great, being politician is pointless. As a novice I can do just about everything a master can do just as good if not better. Oh well, my town still has to grow for me to be truly useful outside of trying to squeeze 15 people into a thimble's worth of land

I didn't know player city garages where in such a high demand. /sarcasm off

Being a politician is nothing but a skillpoint sink. Once I master it, I will drop it. I would had rather seen Spynet operatives, a BE trainer or even a decent response about the /citywarn.

There is nothing to attract people to player cities. What does a player city offer that makes it attractive? Research center is about it and that is only for artisans. Stronghold? Worthless without militia - which would had made the GCW more interesting, but lack of foresight by developers and we get punished.

I am always trying to recruit new citizens to help replace those that leave the game but more and more people are now deciding to live in the wilds, not in player cities. Player cities are seen as a credit sink with no real benefit. You no longer need a city or camp to call your mount or vehicle. A bonus if you don't live in a city and don't have scouting skills.

The only real benefit of player cities for for those large pa guilds to allow them to build a company town.

Opportunities? What opportunities? Dynamics? What dynamics? There is no city channel (I have a macro to create one but that should had been a tool placed in the city patch). I can't name the city hall (which would add character to each city). I can't have a militia to engage in a GCW. No message of the day for people entering the city. How about signs to direct visitors? Billboards to advertise merchant wares? A way to level the ground a bit so gardens and fountains sit more properly? Sidewalks or stone paths? Bridges placed over those ravine? How about politicians being able to grant amnesty to a certain number of citizens based off a skill (a reason to keep politican) so their citizenship won't get revoke (i've mentioned this idea before a few times). Ability to colorize some civic buildings?

What do they give us. A garage. Oh, lets not forget that wonderful Nym Scavenger Hunt.

Yep, I feel about the same way. I love being mayor but hate being a politician, the only reason I'm going to keep a lot of the skills after my town is designed and doneis for the titles and that's it. Sure it's an idiotic reason but what the hell I don't care about having the best stacking build or anything like that so I might as well get some use out of this prof.

Yep, I'm keeping that one and Urban Planner (I'm an architect major) and possibly statesman for formal affairs between me and other players but that all depends on whether or not those skill points could be put to a much better use i.e. first aid 2 so I can stop bleeding etc.
